You hinge back, then snap into a standing plank—tight glutes, tight core, tall posture. You strike that top position, then repeat. That’s why the swing is so powerful. A proper kettlebell swing is essentially a weighted broad jump where your feet never leave the ground. So you get all the explosiveness, with zero impact on your joints. And when you progressively load that over time, you’re not just getting stronger—you’re getting more athletic. You’ll jump farther, sprint faster, move more explosively, and—this is the big one—you build power endurance. Normally, that sprint system burns out fast. Swings train you to keep producing power even when you’re tired. That’s why they’re deceptive. When people watch a good swing, they think, “Oh, that’s just momentum.” Then they try it… and feel it in their arms and lower back—which is how you know it’s being done wrong. A proper swing loads the hips and core, not the spine and shoulders. And yes—kettlebells will expose and break the bad habits you picked up in the gym.
