This video shows us viewing an eye with a very advanced case of keratoconus that recently developed a condition known as “hydrops”. Hydrops is a condition that develops when the most posterior corneal membrane ruptures allowing fluid (aqueous) from inside the eye to enter the cornea creating the inflamed milky white opacity see here. We are treating this condition in an aggressive manner in order to prevent this eye from needing to undergo a corneal transplant operation. When this eye becomes more clear and “quiet” we will refit this eye with a scleral lens. Trying very hard for this patient and hoping for the best.
