In a few words can you describe the climate and culture of your school? 🔑this will tell you exactly what kind of environment you are walking into. 2. When you think of your absolute best teacher, what are some of the qualities and characteristics that come to mind? 🔑This will let you know if admin will value who you are and what you will bring to their school. What does professional development look like at this school? 🔑this will let you know if they support your professional growth or not. 4. How do grade level teams collaborate and support one another? 🔑this will let you know if you are expected to do everything yourself. Huge 🚩 5. Do you have a mentoring program for new teachers? 🔑this is important because if they do not, you will have to pay out of pocket and it can be pricey 💰 Want to see if you’re ready for your teacher interview? And no, these were not just random things I stopped doing. They were very intentional, and when done together, they completely changed how confident I felt in interviews. Save this for later if you have a teacher interview coming up. Ok, here they are: 1. Trying to memorize perfect answers 2. Rambling when I got nervous 3. Over explaining my teaching philosophy 4. Giving vague classroom examples 5. Guessing what interview panels wanted to hear 6. Answering questions without structure 7. Talking about effort instead of student impact 8. Panicking when they asked follow-up questions 9. Going into interviews without prepared stories 10. Hoping confidence would just “show up” Once I learned how to structure my answers, everything changed.
