I remember struggling to move just my hips without my upper body tagging along – it felt like my whole body had a mind of its own! 🙈 Here are 3 tips that helped me improve (and they’ll help you too): 💃 Start slow: Focus on one hip at a time and don’t stress if it feels awkward at first – it’s normal! 💃 Engage your core: This keeps your upper body stable so you can really isolate the hips. Think of your core as your anchor! 💃 Mirror: Practicing in front of a mirror helped me notice the little things I was doing wrong and fix them faster Remember, progress takes time. Been mastering my kickbacks for over 2 years now - heres what I learned that you need to know to master yours too🍑🔥 1) Form is personal – What works for someone else might not work for you. Play around with angles, foot positioning, and cables until you find your best form and angle. 2) Hit both max & medius – If you want full, rounded glutes, you need both. I alternate each for every glute day. 3) Not feeling them is normal in the beginning. Your standing leg might burn at first, and that’s okay! Lighten the weight, slow down the eccentric, and literally just give it time. It took me half a year before I really started feeling these in my glutes, you only develop a MMC through practice, plus even if you can’t feel your glutes a ton, you are still working them;) 4) Kickbacks = shape, not mass – They won’t build insane size, but they WILL refine your shape. Heavy compounds are better for growing insane size, but the isolations will be your cherry on top for the shape. 5) I never skip them. They’re not my fav, but I always end my glute days with kickbacks. Even if I’m tired. Even if I’m bored. These have been the one exercise I contribute most to growing my upper glute area, which is genetically stubborn af on me.
