Starting our pullups from the top can increase our strength

Starting our pullups from the top can increase our strength and mobility! Exploring the upper and lower end of the pullup range of motion can have functional and therapeutic benefits. This is something I've been exploring recently myself. While I've been doing pullups for years (like many of you), I discovered that some parts of my ROM are not as strong as I like. In addition, there's some debate on how the pullup should look as we're coming up. Shoulders back and "proud chest" at the top engages our back more. It's relatively difficult to completely touch chest-to-bar for long in this position, so great work if you can! However, while some people frown on neutral shoulders at the top, I'm hesitant to dismiss it because it gives my arms some extra work that I enjoy. Additionally, "Full ROM" for pullups is somewhat debatable. Some people consider a muscle up the full range of motion. For me, right before the tension starts to move away from our biceps and onto our triceps at the top is what I consider the "top" of a pullup. Just some thoughts! Here are 3 major stances found in all kung fu styles. . If you practice these basic positions your kung fu will have a strong foundation and you will be harder to beat in a fight if practiced with good technique. Start small, perhaps 15-20 seconds, and add 5-10 seconds each day. You only need once daily but as you get stronger you can double or triple it up. . These strengthen tendons, muscle, and the spirit! These are isometric holds as well. If you want I can go into more detail on each stance to show you good technique. The basics will carry you far! . #kungfu #taiji #baguazhang #shaolin #martialarts #karate #judo #shuaijiao #bjj #boxing #horsestance #isometrics #strength #strengthtraining #strengthandconditioning

Contrast Training (Hotel Gym) Utilizing contrast training with minimal equipment with the @zero_repetition_maximum Zero RM ISO Rack Strap and cable machine. Using the ISO Rack strap that was given to me from my guy @davidecolella I’m able to still work on Increassing maximal force in several positions even when traveling. Why isometrics?? Isometrics help improve force in a static position. Isometrics in an overcoming style allow for high amounts of motor unit recruitment and muscle to contract without lengthening. Using 5 second iso contractions you can improve force 15 degrees up or down from that position of contraction. When used in tandem with dynamic work can also increase explosive power. Contrast training: Contrast training is a method of training where you take a heavy or high force movement and couple it with a dynamic movement to help improve rate of force and overall power production. Here I’m doing several foundational patterns and implementing a contrast set with each of them. How It Works: Muscle Tension: The muscle generates tension without shortening or lengthening. This type of contraction demands a high energy output and oxygen consumption once the muscle relaxes, leading to improvements in muscular endurance and strength over time. Blood Flow: During the 5-second contraction, blood flow is restricted, and upon release, there is a surge in circulation. This phenomenon, known as reactive hyperemia, helps in flushing out metabolites like lactate and enriches the muscle with oxygen and nutrients. Post Activation Potentiation (PAP) This method leverages the neurological phenomenon which refers to the temporary increase in muscle performance following high-intensity contractions. To get your hands on one of these ISO Straps go to @zero_repetition_maximum and use code DARUSTRONG for 10% OFF!🦾🔥 #isometrics #contrast #hotelworkout #darustrong

SUMMON THE FLEXIBILITY!!! Active stretches are very under utilized as a method of increasing range of motion, strength at end ranges and injury prevention. I've been experimenting with efforts like this the past year and I'm surprised by the carryover to training and everyday life. It really helps with nagging injuries and joint pain. The trick is to REALLY TRY as hard you can. Strangely it seems like almost nobody is talking about this stuff? I get it though, it's not cool looking and you can't measure progress. You're literally going nowhere and suffering discomfort. But adding in a bit of this before your main workouts might get you as excited as I am about exploring these more! #activestretch #flexibility #isometrics #rehab #stretching

Most of my isometrics posts (especially the most recent one from last week) get plenty of attention for the machine I’m using. In fact, last week, a handful of people physically bought one for themselves or their home gyms as a result of seeing that post and direct messaging me or the machine’s creator @isophit_inventor about it to inquire. So I decided to put this together. _ Truthfully, I didn’t know there were that many inquiring minds about it, but I can see how intriguing it would be when looking outside in. This device is a game-changer for gains in basically any category. And it’s a one-stop shop. For years, I’d been duplicating as many variations of patterns and positions as I possibly could by setting up a heavily loaded (immovable) barbell in a squat cage, requiring constant unloads, height and position adjustments, and reloads to make a workout run smoothly. It was doable, but cumbersome, finicky, and just inconvenient by comparison. Having a single unit with an indestructible multi-position steel bar to apply max forces on has helped many of my clients get wicked strength gains, mobility gains, and workouts. Brad (@isophit_inventor ) trained me personally for two full training phases on two separate years. I can personally attest to the benefits these methods provide when used properly. Hardest workouts in the game. _ As much as I like being one of the only solo trainers in the game to have one for individual use, it’s important the word is spread about it, so it’s in more home gyms, training studios, and commercial spaces. And now you’re getting a big discount if you use my promo code Lee25% when you search for it on the isophit.com website. That’s a big win. _ Thanks to my fitness models/clients @chrisgorham and @kadrianenyia for letting me film their gruelling workouts. Strange coincidence that they’re also both actors. Just noticed that. They’re naturals on screen 😉. _ Puh. _ #strengthtraining #isometrics #isometric #isometrictraining #isophit #hypertrophy #strengthandconditioning #personaltrainer #personaltraining #personaltrainertoronto #personaltrainingtoronto #conditioning
