Watch as the world passes by, literally. The people who’ve been to Earth orbit for the rare opportunity to see our home planet from a whole different angle say this blue marble in space is really quite beautiful and awe-inspiring when seen from 250 miles straight up. Here’s your chance to see if you agree: these ultra-high definition video scenes, captured between March 2022 and March 2023 during the International Space Station’s Expeditions 67 and 68, let you imagine yourself as a station crew member with an hour off duty and nothing better to do than look out the window as the world, literally, passes by. EARTH FROM SPACE 🌏 Part 347 ✨FUN FACT : During a spacewalk outside the ISS, astronauts are never truly “alone” even if radio contact briefly drops, they’re protected by multiple backups. Their suit has redundant radios, a safety tether to the station, and a small emergency jetpack called SAFER that can fly them back if they drift away. Losing comms would be scary, but the bigger danger is losing your tether because in orbit, even a tiny push can send you silently drifting into space. 🧑‍🚀 Follow @spacegenerationx for more space content #nasa #space #astronaut #hurricane #spacex

Sixty-five miles per hour may be a pretty standard speed limit on highways here on Earth, but up in orbit, the ISS travels a whopping 5 miles-per-second. That means the station circles the entire planet once every 90 minutes . . 👨‍🚀Astronauts' bodies absorb radiation equivalent to 8 chest X-rays per day. In 6 months, that’s more than most humans receive in a lifetime. On the ISS orbit (Earth at 28,000 km/h) — they witness 16 sunrises every single day. Muscles forget gravity exists. Bones lose 1–2% density per month. The spine stretches — astronauts return up to 3 cm taller. And yet — they keep going back. Because some views are worth the risk. #space #earth #nasa

POV: You're touring a lab that's out of this world In this video, NASA astronaut Zena Cardman shows us around the @ISS, where she lived in low Earth orbit for over five months as part of our SpaceX Crew-11 mission. The entire space station is roughly the size of a football field, and the living and working space within it is larger than a six-bedroom house at just under 14,000 cubic feet of habitable volume. In this clip, Cardman first pops into the docked Dragon spacecraft to peek out of its window. After that, she maneuvers through the space station, ending up in the cupola. The International Space Station transiting in front of Jupiter, the perfect Alignment! This video shows a lil behind the scenes on capturing The ISS and Jupiter I used the planetary app Stellarium and Google maps in order to calculate the path of the ISS and figure out exactly where I needed to be to capture the alignment. If I was even Just a few dozen feet off, the ISS would have flown either above or below the planet, no transit. Used my 9.25 Celestron telescope attached with a high speed astronomy camera to capture high frame rate video. And from the frames I was able to stack them and get a clearer image of the moment of Transit! #astrophotography #california #Jupiter #iss #Astro

How Does the ISS Move in Space? The International Space Station (ISS) orbits Earth at an astonishing speed of 28,000 km/h (17,500 mph), completing a full orbit in just 90 minutes! Meanwhile, Earth's surface rotates at a much slower pace—about 1,670 km/h (1,037 mph) at the equator. We created this animation to visually compare these two speeds, revealing just how fast the ISS moves relative to Earth's rotation. We also visualized the orbital path of the ISS, showing how it continuously circles Earth in a wave-like pattern due to our planet’s rotation beneath it, creating a stunning view of its trajectory from space. Beyond its incredible speed, the ISS is a remarkable human achievement . Over 15 nations have contributed to this floating laboratory, proving that when we work together, we can achieve the extraordinary. From groundbreaking scientific research to breathtaking views of our planet, the ISS continues to inspire generations worldwide.
