The preposition used in each expression changes its meaning completely, and in today’s video, I give you a definition for each one so you can start using them yourself. Keep reading to find more example sentences with each one as well! Below, you’ll find the four expressions that I cover in this video: 🔸to be into something = if you’re into something, you like it or are interested in it. If you are into a person, however, this means that you’re romantically interested in them: He’s into horror movies and I’m into him, so I’ve had to watch a lot of horror movies just to spend time with him. 🔸to be onto something = if you’re onto something, this means that you have discovered or thought of something important that could be very successful or produce a positive result; we can also say that you’re onto something WITH a person or thing: I think she’s definitely onto something with her new app idea, since it solves a problem that very few other apps can solve.
