HAMMER OF JABLES - Tenacious D, Foo Fighters, and SLASH deliver an awesome cover of “Immigrant Song” in 2015 at the LA Forum for Dave Grohl’s 46th birthday. Although this clip isn’t the best quality, the energy and sheer power Jack Black exudes while singing this Led Zeppelin classic is too good not to share. In 2015, many artists came together at the LA Forum to celebrate Grohl’s birthday. The night included a 32 song setlist, where they played covers and originals. The special night included Foo Fighters, Slash, Tenacious D, David Lee Roth, Zakk Wylde, and Paul Stanley. Jack Black has long been a Zep Head and has been vocal about them being the second greatest band of all time… behind Tenacious D. Jablinski even cracked the seemingly impenetrable music catalogue of Zeppelin when he was able to get the rights to use “Immigrant Song” in his 2003 film “School of Rock.” To get this done, Black made a video where he essentially begged Zeppelin to use their music. Black explains - . “I begged them on video with a huge audience of extras in the movie theatre that we were shooting in, and they all chanted with me: ‘Led Zeppelin, please bless us with your love!’ I don’t remember what I said, it was ridiculous and off the top of my head, and he sent it over there to them to England, and it worked. They were like, ‘Oh, that’s funny. That’s funny, mate. Yeah, we’ll let him use the song’ [in attempted English accent]. That’s not a very good imitation of Jimmy Page but… and it’s a great thing ’cause it’s one of the best parts of the movie, that song.” Enjoy
