I’ve always been a huge Christine McVie fan. And like people often do with public figures who they actually don’t know jack shit about, I assigned certain character traits to her that suited my own needs…ie. I wanted to think she was “like me”. As someone who has always been a pretty reluctant front person, I dug the shit out of her vibe…modest, not particularly showy, but a solid SOLID musician. She was a BAND MEMBER. I fucking love the way she played a Rhodes…a little left of center, but always musical…I think she must have been a great listener. And her kinda almost monochromatic vocal style, virtually devoid of any vibrato…I mean, it takes BALLS to sing that way, it really really does. I’m having that not at all unique human experience tonight where one of your titans crosses over, and you find yourself taking stock. Thanks Miss McVie, you were really something.
