Jaafar Jackson speaks to Pop Base about the challenge of playing his uncle Michael Jackson during difficult moments in the ‘Michael’ movie while being personally connected to the story, in our interview hosted by Amber Grimes (@ambergrimes). The 29-year-old actor told us it was a challenge he wanted to take on, revealing that stepping into Michael’s shoes allowed him to find new things about himself throughout the 2-year process. The search for the talent to embody the King of Pop had originally begun as a worldwide search, as revealed by the director of the biopic, Antoine Fuqua. He previously shared that to him and producer Graham King, it wasn’t about casting a Jackson family member, but landing someone that could truly embody Michael. Fuqua previously revealed the experience of witnessing Jaafar’s embodiment of his uncle for the very first time on set: “Day one, all I could think of was, ‘Can Jaafar really pull this off?’ Man, when the music started and he hit those first few moves, I mean, this guy killed it.
