Cherokee County has some of the BEST parks! I absolutely love exploring them -- especially when the weather is nice -- with my family!☀️ Boling Park in Canton is one of our favorites for a walk in the woods. BUT, it is about to undergo a BIG upgrade to one of the coolest bridges around, and I'm not sure how I feel about it. What do you think?🌉 The old bridge is definitely in need of some repairs. It's narrow and not the easiest to navigate, but I have always loved it. Now, there will be a straight metal one in place. I'm sure it will be safer, but there was so much charm in the other! It's not too late to get out and see the old one before the changes are made, and I'm wondering if they will end up leaving the old along with the new. I guess time will tell. I'm on a mission to get a bunch of great walks in with my family. We are definitely explorers! If you need tips about great parks in Cherokee County or great hikes in our area, hit me up! Martin Nature Center in OKC is a park I haven’t been to in almost a decade, but I was pleasantly surprised when I visited this time around! They have sooo much to see, tons of bridges, learning spots, and fun interactive things that a lot of parks don’t have. I’m visiting at the end of February and can’t wait to come back in the spring when everything is in bloom and there are leaves on the trees. Definitely add this one to your list of parks to visit in OKC. I would categorize this one as a long outdoor walk with lots of nature, wildlife, and so much more. This is one of those spots you almost gatekeep… but it’s too good not to share. If you’re hunting for a fully paved walking trail in Cedar Park that actually works with strollers, bikes, scooters, and tiny legs, this one checks all the boxes. Quiet paths, lake views, smooth pavement, and way fewer people than you’d expect for how good it is. What really sold me? The trail connects straight over to Lakeline Park, so you can park on one side of the dam and walk right into the playground. No loading kids back into the car. Just walk, play, done. There’s also a tucked-away, fully fenced dog park here that a lot of families don’t even realize exists. Quick parent heads up: parts of the trail have some pretty steep drop-offs, so this is one where littles should stay close while walking. This is McCann Park & Trail with access to McCann Dog Park. 📍 Parking: 2301 Dijon Dr, Cedar Park, TX 78613 Small lot (about 6 cars) tucked in a neighborhood off Riviera Dr, so be mindful when parking.
