We didn’t book a cruise excursion in Kauai… so we improvised 😅 Kalapaki Beach is about a 10-minute walk from the ship, the area is walkable, and our Uber to Wailua Falls was only $20. This is a great activity on Kauai’s east shore, in Kapaa. The Kauai bike path is about 8 miles of absolutely stunning scenery. ↔️ It’s a wide, winding path, rich in history, where people also walk, skate, and exercise, but biking is our recommendation. 🚲 Bike rentals in the area average $5-$10 per hour. 🐳 Depending on the time of year you might see birds, seals, and even whales. ☀️ We recommend packing plenty of water and wearing sunscreen because there’s not much shade. There are pavilions as well as bathrooms all along the way though. 📍A cool feature along the path is the historic Pineapple Dump Bridge. This concrete pier was used by a local pineapple company as the place to dump their pineapple waste into the ocean in the 1900s. Drop a 🍍 in the comments if you’ve been to the Pineapple Dump Bridge!

My favorite spots in downtown Kapaa in Kauai! We start at Mermaids Cafe for the delicious ahi nori wrap (this is a must get! When we used to stay in Kapaa, I would get this daily). Then stroll next door to Java Kai for macadamia nut latte. Then top it off for shaved ice with a scoop of macadamia nut ice cream at Hee Fat General Store. 🍧😋 This is our 7th trip to Kauai and we always need to make a pit stop at Mermaids cafe. So happy we get to share these places now with the kids. 👧🏻👦🏻
