Jamiroquai - Canned Heat (Live, 1999) This song will forever be tied to Napoleon Dynamite for me. That dance scene is iconic, and “Canned Heat” playing behind it is actually how I first discovered Jamiroquai. I had no idea who they were at the time, but the groove immediately stuck with me, it was funky, weird in the best way, and impossible not to move to. Looking back, it’s kind of the perfect introduction to Jamiroquai. The bassline drives the whole song, the rhythm feels nonstop, and everything about it is built to make you dance. It’s upbeat without being cheesy, and tight without sounding overproduced. Once I found this track, it sent me straight down the Jamiroquai rabbit hole. What I love most is how much personality this song has. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, but it’s still insanely well-made.
