Still buzzing from earlier this month when one of my FAVORITE BANDS of all time, @joyformidable (who I've luckily been able to see 5 times), performed the title track from their most recent album, 'Into the Blue.' Ritzy described this song as about having the "courage to live in the moment" and to not overthink things or hold on to certain expectations (for people or scenarios), which is something I often struggle with. That's why this song in particular holds a special place in my heart (especially with the beautiful, catchy melody), and why the lyrics always hit me like a brick wall: "Don't fear the move out of the past... Let time take your hand and guide you... He originally wanted to be a poet but after spending afternoons watching Rap City, he chose his path as a musician and never looked back. Cammy-Kun is a hip hop artist who blends a little bit of every other genre, whose subject matter is relatable to misfits like himself or the people who fit the subject he chooses. His name is based on a script for a manga he is currently working on. 8pm: Sunlite Sunlite is an alternative and grunge rock band based in Brooklyn, NY. With influences ranging from Queenadreena to Cocteau Twins to Green Day, their sound blends grungy intensity, melancholic textures, and melodic, emotive vocals, moving fluidly between hauntingly beautiful and powerful, driving moments. Layered guitars take cues from The Joy Formidable, The Cure, and My Bloody Valentine, while rhythms are energized by Linkin Park, Three Days Grace, and Placebo, giving the band a dynamic, modern edge. On stage, Sunlite balances atmosphere and force, with songs that soar and crash, leaving a lasting emotional impact. 9pm: St. Black St. Black (Dylan Black) is an electro-pop spectacle located in Brooklyn, NY originally from the Pacific Northwest. With influences ranging from Judy Garland to Jim Morrison to David Bowie, the result is a lush audio soundscape that reflects diverse leaps between pop genres and musical eras, while still retaining a modern, unique sound.
