June 3rd, 1991 WWF Prime Time Wrestling. The feud between Ted DiBiase and Virgil had already become one of the most personal battles in the Federation. Virgil’s triumph at WrestleMania VII had stripped the Million Dollar Man of his aura of control, and with Sensational Sherri now by his side, DiBiase was determined to turn humiliation into revenge. Prime Time Wrestling, with its talk show format, offered the perfect stage. Each week, guests joined Vince McMahon, Bobby Heenan, and rotating hosts in a studio environment that mixed banter with confrontation. On this night, the set became DiBiase’s playground. DiBiase and Sherri sneered their way through the broadcast, mocking Virgil’s ‘moment of glory’ and belittling Roddy Piper’s mentorship. True to form, DiBiase flaunted his wealth by calling audience members forward, offering them money to perform degrading tasks. One of his targets that night was a child, a cruel reminder of just how low the Million Dollar Man was willing to stoop to prove his superiority. Sherri reveled in every insult, standing proudly by his side as DiBiase promised that Virgil’s victory was nothing more than a fluke. The path toward Madison Square Garden and SummerSlam was beginning to crystallize. Virgil, no longer a servant but a man fighting for dignity, would have to step back into the ring with not only DiBiase’s arrogance stacked against him, but Sherri’s ever-present treachery. The stakes were set: respect, pride, and the Million Dollar Championship.
