Use sunscreen daily, especially during boat tours. Book popular restaurants like Jungle Club or NamU in advance to avoid queues. Plan excursions early in the day to beat the crowds and heat. Things are different in Koh Samui..🏝️ Since I already stayed long time in Koh Samui, I realized, that it's a bit different than other places in Thailand. Grab and Bolt doesn't work close to the airport since the drivers are not suposed going close to the airport. The taxi drivers have no taxi-meters which means the prices are made up right there and can be overpriced. Also Grab and Bolt are very expensive on Koh Samui. I would suggest taking a local bus called "Songthaew" which drives around the island or rent a bike if you can drive. 🏍️Also don't be one of these tourists which never drove a bike before, coming to Thailand and think they can miraculously drive now. In my first 10 days I was on Koh Samui, I saw 4 motorbike accidents. Two of them were very bad! Since Koh Samui is a famous destination for backpackers and other tourists, the restaurants can be more expensive than on other places in Thailand. But if you're patient enough, you can still find some cheap local restaurants which delicious food or going to night markets like the White Night Market (Si Khao Night Market) Koh Samui is a mix of luxury resorts, beach clubs, and backpacker spots. It’s not like Chiang Mai, where everything is more cultural and chill, or Bangkok, where life moves fast. Here, it’s all about island vibes, beaches, and partying. * Chaweng Beach – The main tourist hub, packed with bars, nightclubs, and a buzzing nightlife scene. * Lamai Beach – A bit more relaxed, but still plenty of action if you want it. * Maenam & Bophut – Quieter, more laid-back areas with boutique resorts, cute cafes, and a different kind of charm. Weather Can Be Unpredictable ☀️🌧️ Koh Samui has a different rainy season compared to places like Phuket. * The rainy season here usually peaks between October and December, while in Phuket, it’s around May-October. * Sudden tropical storms can happen even during the “dry” season Koh Samui is still a wonderful place to visit, enjoy the island life and meet a lot of other backpackers. We recommend to come early in the morning or before the sunset - it is open until 6pm. 📍Na Mueng Waterfall - you don’t have to go for a hike, it’s only a few metres from a parking spot. No entrance fee. 📍Crystal Bay - beautiful beach with great beach restaurant, so you can spend there all day. 📍Big Buddha Temple - don’t forget to wear appropriate clothes - shoulders and knees should be covered. 📍Fisherman’s Village Night Market - our favorite night market but it is not open every day!
