Blocking my hand knit sweaters might one of my favorite knitting techniques or processes? It always stirs up some interesting conversation too - I’m surprised it’s so controversial! Where do you stand on blocking? Sweater pattern: Staple Sweater by @knitwork___ I absolutely adore this sweater!! I really enjoyed knitting on this, and love wearing it. Yarn: @langyarns_official Yak (colorway escaping me, but is listed on my ravelry project page - linked in my bio) Blocking your Handknit sweaters is the process of submerging it in water and laying it in its desired shape to air dry, flat. I don’t think it’s necessarily the same as washing, although some people will argue this one lol, but blocking is really about finishing - not cleanliness/detergent/etc. Blocking takes your Handknit sweaters, handknit hat, handknit scarf - and really takes the yarn into finished object in my opinion. #knitting #strikk #sweaterknitting #knittinginspiration #strikkedilla

Tips for knitting colorwork⬇️ 1) Don’t let your stitches bunch up on your needles. Right before you change colors, spread the stitches out that are on your needles. This will help create even floats! 2) Color dominance does make a difference to the stitch definition. Make sure that your main color floats pass over the top of the contrast color floats. To help keep track, knit in English style for the main color and continental style for the contrast color. 3) Swatch and block before starting the project. Your tension will likely differ quite a bit from your usual tension when knitting colorwork so make sure to check your gauge. This will also allow you to figure out if the colors will bleed at all. It’s much better to find out from a swatch than a sweater. Update // The Darling Sweater pattern is out now!
