☕️ KOHA CAFE NOW OPEN ☕️ Papatuanuku Kokiri Marae have now officially opened their Koha Café every Thursday and Friday 10-2pm. The cafe serves up delicious rescued food and also use vegetables grown on site which are all cooked within the Koha Kitchen and accompanied by incredible barista-grade coffee. Anyone and everyone is welcome, so go have your meetings on-site and make it a working lunch. The cafe operates on a pay-as-you-feel model, but it relies on the community’s generosity to stay open. So please get along and try it out for yourselves. You can also choose to pay it forward to someone else who might need some hearty kai for lunch 🙏. Number 37 - Koha Cafe in Mangere This kaupapa all started as the marae came together to support whanau in the community. Through covid the community stepped up and this cafe continues to deliver the goods. The food is delicious and the kaimahi always have a warm smile to greet you. Kai is only one part of the kaupapa as this taonga encourages connection and looks after young and old. [Koha Cafe][Māngere]📍Papatūānuku Kōkiri Marae has its own much loved, community based cafe called Koha Cafe, located in Māngere. They’re serving up delicious kai made from rescued food that would otherwise have gone to landfill, along with fresh vegetables grown on site @kokirimarae 😍 The vibes are great, welcoming atmosphere, friendly service, and plenty of dining space both inside and outside. It does get busy, but everything flows nicely. The meals feel nourishing without being heavy. The kai tastes like home cooked food made with love. Their pies are seriously good and a must have for me👌🏼🔥. I’ll definitely be coming back for more with the whānau! One of the best things is their Koha menu option where you can pay what you feel or “Koha a meal” by purchasing a meal in advance to pay it forward for someone in need. Highly recommend checking them out and supporting this awesome local community cafe! ❤️ Ps. They have weekly specials and this week’s is their Pork Bone Dumpling Soup (with pork, prawn & chives 🥟). I absolutely loved it!. It has a light clean broth with tender pork bone meat and delicious house made dumplings. Don’t be shy with the condiments as this would add flavour to the soup.
