On the 12 of April, we were conducting a game drive with our guests and at a certain stage we saw two lionesses and three cubs resting on the top of a koppie in the reserve. When driving ahead and stopping for a sundowner, a male lion walked past and carried on. We quickly stopped our sundowner and followed the big boy. We found him 200 meters away with two lionesses. Coming so close to these magical lions was a very special experience on the first game drive the guests ever made! When we drove off we wanted to check out the two lionesses with the three cubs, and we found them walking on the track in front of us. To our surprise the two lionesses were accompanied by 7 (!) small cubs. When we stopped the game viewer, the cubs left the group and came checking out the game viewer. Please fix this one soon... Date: 20th April 2026 If you can take an alternative gate like Phalaborwa, Phabeni or Malelane i do suggest it. There are road works near Malelane and also lots of Trucks to Phalaborwa. This beautiful female, known as Tatiana, whom I photographed a few years ago in the Kruger National Park, rested in a tree right beside the road. Deze safari’s vielen tegen… en dit zijn onze favorieten 👇 🌅 Game Drive Manyeleti 5/10 Dit park grenst aan Kruger, het park is prachtig maar krijgt van ons een 5 omdat we die ochtend helemaal NIETS hebben gezien. Moet je 'm daarom skippen? Zeker niet, wij hadden gewoon pech! 🦏 Game Drive Mabalingwe Game Reserve 6/10 Het minst mooie park dat we gezien hebben, kan ook door onze route komen. We reden veel langs hekken en lodges en de gids was niet top. Toch een extra punt omdat we neushoorns hebben gezien. Er zijn geen leeuwen in dit gebied. Ik raad deze niet per se aan! Wil je naar Welgevonden? Zorg dat je noordelijker zit! 🐃 Self drive iSimangaliso – 7/10 Relatief klein park, relaxed om zelf doorheen te rijden. Niet mega spannend qua routes. Er zijn meerdere plekken waar je uit kunt stappen. Niet heel veel variatie in dieren. Leuk extraatje, je kan hier naar het prachtige strand Cape Vidal. 🚤 Boot safari St. Lucia 8/10 Gegarandeerd nijlpaarden zien! Er leven er hier honderden in de rivier, sommigen lopen in de avond het dorp in. Korte tour van 2 uur, must do als je in St. Lucia bent. 🐆 Self drive Kruger Park – 8/10 Twee self drives gedaan en heel veel verschillende dieren gezien: luipaarden, krokodillen, bavianen, olifanten en hyena’s. Wel jammer dat veel wegen afgesloten waren en dat we hier geen leeuwen hebben gezien. 🐴 Safari te paard Mabalingwe 8/10 Een uur stapvoets door de bush gereden, niet heel veel dieren gezien maar op deze manier op safari is wel heel bijzonder. Ook spannend, omdat je geen idee hebt wat je tegen gaat komen. 🦒 Self drive Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park – 9/10 Groot park met keuze uit twee delen. Mooie slingerwegen en ook wat off road. Wel best dichtbegroeid, dus soms lastig spotten. Je kunt de big 5 hier tegenkomen! 🐘 Addo – 10/10 Veel open vlaktes, dus spotten is top. En echt overal olifanten. Ook genoeg kans op andere dieren. Perfect voor self drives, onze eerste safari en ook de allerleukste! Addo is favoriet 😍 Wij kregen een gratis reisgids bij onze boeking van @footprint.travel zodat kiezen een stuk makkelijker werd!
