MY FAVORITE EXERCISE FOR RUNNERS... when it's done right. 🟨Step downs challenge you lower body strength and stability in a way that's super applicable to running 🟨It puts you on one leg like you're running, trains balance, and when done correctly, forces you to use a lot of glute strength 🟩Once you're a pro at step downs, start increasing intensity and weight in your programming. Stability first, strength and power second Follow along to stay InjuryProof #distancerunner #marathonrunner #runningcoach #injuryproofrunning

Do you struggle with knee pain? Here’s why the single leg lateral step down is a game changer for correcting knee pain. Strengthens the glutes (hip stabilizers) 👉 Weak glutes often cause the knees to collapse inward, putting stress on the joint. The step down forces your glutes to fire and keep your femur (thigh bone) in alignment. That keeps pressure off the knee ligaments. Improves knee tracking 👉 Many people’s knees cave in or shift forward awkwardly when squatting or climbing stairs. The step down makes you control your movement so the knee stays stacked over the ankle and doesn’t drift excessively inward or forward. That translates to healthier mechanics during daily activities. Builds balance and joint stability 👉 Single-leg work challenges the smaller stabilizers around your knee and ankle. These stabilizers act like “guide wires” that keep your knee tracking smoothly. When they’re weak, you get wobbly—and pain shows up. Fixes left-to-right imbalances 👉 If one leg is stronger or more stable than the other, your body compensates by shifting weight unevenly. Over time, this creates extra wear and tear at the knees. Step downs expose and correct those differences. ✅ Bottom line: The single leg lateral step down helps you bulletproof your knees because it strengthens the exact muscles that control knee position, absorbs force properly, and eliminates the imbalances that often cause knee pain in the first place. @phoenixperformancetraining #fitnessgoals #fitnessjourney #fitnessmotivation #kneepain #strengthcoach

Lateral Step Down: Left vs Right 🤔 This exercise (basically a single leg squat) is great at improving strength and stability. It can also be used to easily identify any asymmetries between your left and right side. This is important for reducing risk of injury and improving performance 💪 Good form is key for the lateral step down. Grab the ground with your foot/toes to create a solid foundation, drive your knee forward while preventing it from caving inwards, and sink your hips back while keeping them level with each other 💯 It is very common and normal for one side to be stronger and more stable than the other. We just want to minimize the difference as much as possible. As you can see, I have a little work to do on the right…🫡 Start doing this exercise to expose any strength imbalances and tune up your single leg stability 🔥 #BurkeSportsRehab #BSR #LateralStepDown #Strength #Stability #Balance #ACLRehab #AnkleRehab #KneeRehab #HipRehab #InjuryPrevention #SingleLegSquat #GoodForm #PhysicalTherapy #Physio #CashPayPT

Älskar denna 🙌🏻! I stort får hela höften jobba 🤪! 10 rakt ner + 10 diagonalt x 3. Ju högre ju tyngre! Börja på första steget i en trappa, öka sedan höjden👍🏻 . Flexion-extension, adduktion-abduktion . #fysioterapeut #fysiosara #omtfysio #stepdown #fredagsfys

🔥Spice up your step ups with this lateral variation🔥 It’s very important to add lateral movements into your training regimen. We don’t just move forward and backward all the time. These lateral step ups are also a great way to fire up those glutes! Give this lateral step up a try in your next workout and let me know what you think! 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐞 — 𝐌𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐖𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐓𝐨 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝐃𝐨𝐰𝐧 Not all step downs are created equal. Different styles = different gains👇🏼 1️⃣ Patrick Step-Down Heel stays flat on the floor. Great for targeting the lower quads, stabilising the knee, and improving ankle range of motion. 2️⃣ Poliquin Step-Down Heel elevated with assistance. Focuses on quad strength + knee joint support. 3️⃣ Peterson Step-Down The most advanced. Emphasises balance and requires lifting the heel without assistance. 4️⃣ Backwards Step-Down Light toe tap behind you. Fires up glutes, quads, hamstrings and your core for balance. 5️⃣ Lateral Step-Down Step to the side, keeping hips level. Boosts knee and hip stability, plus strengthens hip abductors. 6️⃣ Curtsy Step-Down Add a diagonal reach behind. Glute stretch + next level balance and coordination. Pick the variation that supports your goals OR use them all 🔥 . . #fightingfitmanchester #legday #kneestrength #functionaltraining #mobilitytraining #stepdowns #movementquality

The eccentric lateral step down exercise is one of my favorite single leg exercises to give runners It focuses on the quads, glutes, single leg dynamic stability and control for knee valgus and is a great way to teach controlled loading on single limb If you’re looking to address differences vs your left and right side, try this out!🙌🏼

Step Up vs Step Down: sai davvero quale scegliere? Step Up e Step Down non sono esercizi intercambiabili. Up produce forza, Step Down sviluppa controllo. Entrambi gli esercizi sono validi, ma inserirli correttamente in un programma di allenamento è la chiave per ottenere risultati concreti. Se avverti dolore durante questi esercizi, è un chiaro segnale di una disfunzione biomeccanica. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽-𝗨𝗽!🚀 👣 Step aside, traditional step-ups! The lateral step-up is here to revolutionize your leg day by closely mimicking a squatting motion, targeting your muscles more effectively. 1️⃣ Stand next to a box, one foot on it, the other on the floor. 2️⃣ Press down with the front foot, lifting yourself up until the leg straightens. 3️⃣ Lower back down with control. Why the lateral step-up? It replicates a squatting motion better than the traditional step-up, targeting those key muscle groups more effectively and enhancing your balance and coordination. 🏋️♀️🏋️♂️ Step up to the challenge and feel the difference! 🌟 Prepared to take your training to the next level? 3️⃣ way step downs 🏋🏻♀️ Il carico progressivo e la gestione dello stress sono 2 fattori principali nella riabilitazione. Il quadricipite e gli hamstring richiedono molto lavoro per recuperare completamente la forza. . #legamentocrociatoanteriore #rehab #acl #aclrecovery #aclrehab #exercise #quadricipite #glutes #knee #kneestrengthening #step #stepdown #fisioterapia #fisio #fisiobrain

➡️ Peterson Step Downs A staple in the “my knees always hurt” program. Whether you’re squatting, lunging, or even just walking, strong knees support better movement📈 💪🏼Save this and throw these in your next warmup - - - #fitness #personaltraining #kneepain #onlinecoaching
