Earth has no sorrow that heaven can not heal. It truly was a bitter yet sweet moment in time. As we collectively Celebrated the LIFE and LEGACY of such a great man of God Supt Pastor Lawrence Champion Blake. I know that he's officially resting now from all of his labor down here on earth. And has taken up a crown in glory. Rest easy my dear brother and I'll see you in the morning. 🙏🏾🕊🕊🕊🕊

When Lawrence became ill, he got winded easily. ‌ ‌Several weeks ago God gave Lawrence the strength to run during service. I mean he ran 3 laps! I didn’t see him until 2 laps in. At that point I joined him and we finished together. ‌ ‌Later on as we discussed it, he jokingly said “You joined me too late. I wanted to stop at lap two, but since you joined me, I ran one more time. You have to pay attention and start earlier.” 😳🤣 We both laughed. ‌ ‌Babe, that last lap was warming you up to cross your ultimate finish line. You ran well and you won! We adjourned yesterday’s Council Meeting in the memory of beloved spiritual leader, Pastor Lawrence Champion Blake, Sr., who exemplified leadership through humility and compassion. Lawrence’s legacy will live on through the congregations of West Angeles Church of God In Christ, Palm Lane Church Of God In Christ, and in everyone he loved and served. May he rest in power.

Lawrence Champion Blake was the true essence of a gentle giant. Gentle in loving people and a Giant at exuding patience with them. Early 90's LB had one of the coldest Mustang 5.0 on Crenshaw. My head would rattle at the low end coming from the subwoofers in the trunk🤯. I've been reminiscing the series of funeral services we served in together back in 2014-15. Loving families through him eulogizing and me providing music at West Angeles Church. Approaching afterward in the side hallway with fist bumps, our brother embrace encouraging one another to keep going & never give up on God & family. Truly grateful through it all we never lost connection kept up with calls, text, social media and our birthday cash was always on point! This hurts SO deep. Such a great human. Sending love to the entire Blake family especially Jeanine & their amazing children. Live forever Champ.🕊️

Bishop Joe L. Ealy, First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Southern California, delivered a tremendous message entitled, “Taking Care of The Sheep” (John 21:15-17). It was historical to have remarks from my Presiding Bishop Emeritus Charles E. Blake & video greetings from my Presiding Bishop J. Drew Sheard. My sister @karenclarksheard sang so beautifully at the service for Supt. Lawrence Blake. It was so moving. I’m not sure if many of you knew this, but according to his wife, this was the last song he sang in the house before going to the hospital for the very last time. That alone gives the moment such deep meaning. Today my heart is comforted knowing that he is now resting in that secret place, safely in the presence of the Lord. ❤️🌹 Y'all please keep the entire Blake Family lifted up in our prayers.
