317,000 government jobs. 30,000 at Amazon. Microsoft, Ford, Starbucks, Nike, Block. All in 2026. All pointing at AI. I saw this list and genuinely had to put my phone down for a second. Then I picked it back up because I could not stop looking at it. Look, I have been laid off twice so I feel qualified to say this..... nothing prepares you for that email. Not your savings account. Not your LinkedIn connections. Not the fact that you have been a top performer for three years running. One day you have a title and a benefits package and the next day you are refreshing Indeed at 11pm eating cereal for dinner wondering what just happened. And now AI is doing it at scale. At like, terrifying scale. But here is the thing nobody is talking about in between all the doom posts. This is also the greatest forcing function in history for people to finally stop waiting and start building something of their own. I am willing to bet that every person who got pushed out of corporate and actually did something different with it looks back and calls it the best thing that ever happened to them. Including me. Especially me. So yes the list is scary. Yes the news is scary. Yes AI is real. And yes your cereal dinner era might be coming. But it might also be the beginning of something way better than whatever that company had planned for you. Just something to think about. #ai #layoffs #buildsomething

I got laid off from Google recently and I don’t know what to do or how to feel. Friends have told me to take some time to process but I feel like I don’t have time to process. I need to find another job, figure out health insurance, layoff logistics, interview prep, fix my resume, move back in with my parents?? and like a million other things. I see a lot of people online saying that getting laid off was the best thing that has happened to them but that’s not the case for 99% of people. If you’re laid off with 500k in savings, a booming social media, partner/parents to take care of you, a side hustle that’s making you money etc, then sure, maybe you can bet on yourself and take some time to process but most people can’t. Now I know I am in a fortunate place and do have some savings from working in tech for 3 years but as an only child from an immigrant family who is trying to support and retire his parents, I feel an immense pressure to find another job as quickly as I can. I’m worried, anxious, scared, shocked, and feeling a bunch of other emotions but I can’t dwell on it. The work needs doing and I need to grind because time is ticking. In an era of big tech layoffs, I hope to share what life is like after layoffs and document my job search process here to show what it actually looks like after getting laid off and NOT going all in on myself and end up homeless. note: if you know me/my family personally, please don’t tell my parents 😅😅 #techlayoffs #layoffs #laidoff

a morning in my life gone wrong because I lose my corporate job 🙂👩🏼💻👍🏼 I felt as rundown as I looked hahaha #layoffs #laidoff #corporatelife #fired #career

After the big layoffs, walking into the office today felt different. They collected our old ID cards and handed us new ones, along with a T-shirt, a notebook, and a pen. Same office.. but everything feels changed. It honestly feels like I’m starting my job all over again. I never expected such a huge transition 😔 #usa #beforeandafter #layoffs #corporatelife #jobs

“They need me here.” That was the biggest lie I convinced myself to believe. Because a month later, I was in a 4:30 call on a Friday with my manager (who I really believed was my friend) who told me the words: “Effective after this call, we’ll be parting ways.” It’s been over 2 years since and I now know, the second you think you have ~safety~ at your company, you’re a sitting duck. Stop spending your emotional energy on something that will never spend it back on you. #careertips #careeradvice #layoffs

Raw and unfiltered look at how the last 2 months has been since Google Job search progress has been slower than expected and I have no one to blame but myself. Each day we have “24 dollars” to spend on things we value. I say finding a job is a priority (and it still is) but I’ve been spending time doing other things too. Here are the top 3 things I didn’t exepct spending time on: 1) creating content I thought my consistency and content quality would drop since I would focus all my efforts on job search but it’s been the opposite. Since my recent growth on IG, I’ve been spending more time creating content, documenting my journey, exploring new things, and overthinking every video I post. Content has been both exciting and fulfilling but it’s definitely taken up a lot of my time 2) time with friends I thought I would isolate myself from everyone and just focus on myself but turns out I really enjoy spending time with my friends and end up spending more quality time with them than before 3) networking / learning new skills / admin Growth on social media has create more opportunities such as media interviews, meeting new people, coaching others, brand deals, and more. Feeling very blessed to be in this position but there’s also a lot of admin stuff that comes with it while I continue to try and stay consistent with content + interview prep. Also, with so much AI news happening daily, I’m trying to actually learn practical use-cases for it in daily life, not just coding/work. It’s been fun but sometimes I get myself into rabit holes So yeah, that’s how life’s been. My focus has been everywhere meaning it’s nowhere, I know it’s something I need to fix and with month 3 fast approaching, I’m making interview prep a priority and taking it easier on content. That means less overthinking each video, less spending 1h to find the perfect 5s b-roll, less spending an hour writing my captions, less prouncing each word perfectly and more just doing “what feels right” Happy to have you here, and if you read to the end, comment a 🌳 emoji hehe (thanks for reading all my long thoughts 🫶) #layoffs
