Let’s start with NO - it’s not illegal- anytime anyone leaps at all all the comments are “illegal pitch” Natalie tried something new today! I really think if she kept working on a little leap she would be REALLY good at it! We worked on trying to get her timing & trusting herself/getting a strong finish! I told her it’s ultimately up to her and she said she wants to keep trying to work with a little leap. Not my go-to style of pitching but for a few of my girls to collapse their drag leg & get stuck - the rule change has REALLY helped them a lot! Leaping Leap Day! To leap is to jump or spring a long way, to a great height, or with great force. Jumping is a way animals can move away from or towards something quickly. Many of the animals at the Zoo are built for leaping! Lemurs, golden lion tamarins, white faced saki monkeys, San Clemente Island goats, pudu, caracal, bobcat, red pandas, binturongs, marine toad, chinchillas, and horned frog are some of our great jumpers! The back and forth between leaping and not leaping is still blowing up the internet daily so let's talk more about it! Today, I'm diving into the art of pushing off the mound for maximum power and accuracy. 💪 Drive is so important and now with the rules changing we can get even more push and drive. In November of 2023 it was made legal that pitchers push foot can "catch air" or "take flight" Well naturally when there is a huge change in the game people lose their minds because people don't like change! It's funny the most bothered by this change are people on the internet that mostly aren't even in the sport!! Which shocks me because why does it matter to someone who works at a bank of America as a teller that scrolls Facebook and Instagram and has nothing to do with softball to suddenly feel the need to inform actual coaches of illegal motions?? Also I don't care if your best friend's roommate's uncle was a softball coach in Alaska in the 70s I'm getting tired of deleting comments that are just dumb and mean. So for example "tim the bank teller" you must accept the game is changing and that your life will not be affected so maybe just deal with the fact the game is growing!
