We’re trying to catch our leprechaun this year 🍀🌈 so we made a GIANT rainbow to bait him for St. Patrick’s Day! This was surprisingly easy and a fun way to sneak in a little light refraction science for kids. How to make it: • Stick 2 strips of clear tape across a roll • Color the tape in rainbow colors (washable or dry erase markers work best) • Set the roll near your leprechaun trap • Shine a flashlight under the roll and turn off the lights to reveal your rainbow ✨ Sneaky leprechauns won’t be able to resist! Save this for a quick St. Patrick’s Day activity with kids 🍀

An activity that had a little bit of everything 🍀✨ We started with a St. Patrick’s Day “coin hunt” - hiding green leprechaun coins around the yard like an Easter egg hunt. Then we brought the coins inside for a little magic (aka science 👏). We dropped the coins into “leprechaun water” (vinegar) and watched them fizz and bubble just like our favorite baking soda experiments. If the coins float, they’re lucky coins 😉 (spoiler: the plastic ones all float). How to make the coins: Mix baking soda, a little water, and green food coloring until you have a thick paste (thicker than you think!). Form into coins and let dry overnight. Hide them around your house or yard… and let the hunt begin! Fun, festive, and secretly educational - the best kind of holiday activity 💚 Let me know if you want the little poem we used to explain the game!
