Handwriting looks different this year moving to Year 2! We use ‘ground, grass, sky’ to help our students with letter formation and consistent sizing. This is also in our exercise books too and we often review handwriting in daily review each day 😊 I am so lucky to have been sent all of the magnetic resources from @magnificentlearningsupplies — they have been such a game changer moving to Year 2 for me! Handwriting Repeater ✍🏼 This is a great tool for teachers, or parents, to model handwriting formation for students. The features it includes, such as different paper options, or the loop feature, make it easy for teachers to set it up and wander the classroom while students are still supported with the motions on the board. Best part? It’s FREE! www.handwritingrepeater.app

Because do you know how rare that is?! A school that: ✏️ Has an actual structured handwriting curriculum 📅 Schedules it consistently 🧠 Teaches it explicitly 📈 Monitors progress Instead of: “Eh, they’ll pick it up.” “Just let them type.” “They’re too old.” When I hear a school takes handwriting instruction seriously? I’m like: YEAHHHH 🙌🔥 Because that means fewer kids slipping through the cracks. Fewer “lazy” labels. Fewer 4th graders falling apart when writing demands explode. Structured instruction matters. And when schools get it right? We celebrate. Want to bring this type of training to YOUR child’s school or YOUR school? Comment SCHOOL below and I’ll send over a form!

Part 4 of our handwriting series is here ✏️✨ Today we’re working on letters that have both curved AND straight lines — which can be tricky for little writers! We’re focusing on: u, d, b, p, r, g, q, j These letters require students to shift from curve ➡️ straight (or vice versa), which is a big coordination skill in early writing. Since there are so many of these letters, I wouldn’t recommend teaching them all at once. Practicing these intentionally helps with: • letter formation • pencil control • spacing awareness • overall writing confidence Save this for your small groups or at-home practice or share it with someone who’s working on letter formation with littles 💛 Part 5 coming soon! #earlyliteracy #handwritingpractice #kindergartenwriting #firstgradewriting #structuredliteracy teachersofinstagram readingteacher preschool homeschool
