The concept—and yes, it’s still just a concept, something we’ll need to remind ourselves of a few times as we stare at these images—”signals the way forward for Lexus design,” according to the announcement materials. The proportions here are superb, with a long, sculpted hood drafting back to a very rear-set, low-slung, two-door cockpit. You can see a bit of the bygone Lexus LFA in those intakes aft of the doors, too. A long lightbar extends across the rear of the concept before turning down at either corner in a geometric, angular way that somehow doesn’t upset the flowing lines of the rest of the vehicle. Though not the direct successor, the current LC 500 is a fitting—if scaled-back—tribute to the moonshot that was the LFA. This concept looks like it’s taking the performance aspect of the LFA just a bit further than the LC 500 ever did.
