Happy National Lighthouse Day! ✨🌊   For centuries, lighthouses have served as vital beacons of safety for sailors navigating the seas. By the late 19th century, the United States had the highest number of lighthouses of any nation.   One of these historic treasures is Oregon’s Yaquina Head Lighthouse, built in 1872 and standing tall as the tallest lighthouse in the state. 💡🏠Maine Lighthouses🏠💡 Maine has a ton of Beautiful Lighthouses along its coastline, these are some of our favorites to visit. 💾Save for later so you don’t miss them on your next trip to Maine. Owls Head - This beautiful little lighthouse located on the top of a hill can make for some great picture opportunities. Marshall Point - Famous for its cameo during the Forrest Gump country running sequence, we were surprised to be the only ones reenacting the scene from the movie. 😅 Bass Harbor Head - Located nearby Acadia National Park this is a great place to watch the sunrise or sunset, but be ready for it to be busy. There is little to no parking and you’ll probably have to take a decent walk to get to it. Portland Head - This one looks exactly how you would imagine a lighthouse would if a family were living there. Nice big house attached right to the lighthouse so that the keeper and their family could live comfortably. Bug Light - Located near Portland, it’s this tiny little light which is also another popular spot for pictures. And it’s located right next to the next light on the list so you get a 2 for 1. Spring Point Ledge - Located near Portland and right next to Bug Light if you see one you are bound to see the other! Pemaquid Point - Located on beautiful grassy field this light is a bit out of the way, but its a high suggestion to see it and then head to get some charcuterie for lunch at The Rooting Pig. Siamo rimasti ore, seduti su quel faro, ad ammirare l’infrangersi delle onde, solo in compagnia del fragore dell’acqua che si schianta sulle rocce e dei gabbiani.
