Limestone is porous!! Which means it absorbs more than you think… spills, oils, dirt. It develops a patina over time - and while that can feel grounding and organic, it also means embracing a bit of unpredictability which we weren’t prepared for! If you love character, texture, and a lived-in kind of beauty… it’s worth it. But if you’re craving something pristine and low-maintenance, it might feel like more than you expected. TIP: seal it! One of my favourite types of floors of all time has to be the limestone floor. I personally specified it in my own home and it’s one of my favourite finishes (and we have many different finishes in our home!) because of how durable it is. It’s rustic nature means that it doesn’t always need to be pristine. We went for a tumbled finish as we love the character that brings. Works perfectly in this home laid in a French pattern and compliments those beams perfectly. What do you think!? Let me know in the comments. Morning! Porcelain or natural stone flooring….which would you choose? Personally, having had both, porcelain by far wins for me and this is what we have throughout our downstairs. These tiles, are a ‘limestone effect’ porcelain, from @ctdtiles (details below). We had limestone tiles & travertine too, in our previous home and I found them high maintenance!🫣I’ve found porcelain so much easier, with no sealing involved either! This flooring is zero maintenance. I give it a steam clean, about once a month and hoover weekly and that’s it! It is also warm underfoot, as we have underfloor heating throughout our downstairs. We also switched to porcelain to the exterior of our property too!
