Update on Copy Fail: CISA says attackers started exploiting the Linux kernel bug one day after the public exploit dropped. CISA has added it to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog and ordered federal civilian agencies to patch by May 15. The original exploit is a 732-byte Python script that takes any logged-in user to root on Ubuntu, Debian, Red Hat, SUSE, and Amazon Linux. Kaspersky also flagged it as a container escape — Docker, LXC, and Kubernetes by default give containers access to the same kernel module the exploit abuses, so an unpatched host can be rooted from inside a compromised container. #linux #cybersecurity #cisa

Linux is not a freaking OS.😲😱 Well, I have a lot of substantial statements to support that. When someone comes up and says “I am running Linux OS in my system”, it usually means they are using Linux + GNU. The Linux distributions such as Ubuntu, Fedora, Redhat, etc are actually Linux +GNU distributions. Linux is basically a kernel that acts as an interface between hardware and software components. One great example to prove Linux is not an OS would be “Android OS running Linux as its kernel”.
