There’s a specific frustration only real professionals feel. When you know the nail isn’t right — even if the client says it’s beautiful. Inward crooked nail growth that keeps fighting you. Side walls pulling in. Structure that never feels balanced. You can keep compensating with thickness. Or you can learn to redirect it. Structure isn’t product knowledge. It’s behavioural understanding. If you felt something reading this… you already know what level you want to reach. I teach this in detail inside my Hard Gel Pro trainings : in person, online pre recorded course or live virtual sessions nail retention problems | pocket lifting gel | uncured gel allergies | nail lamp curing | builder gel retention | gel manicure education | nail tech tips | professional nail care #naileducation #efilemanicure #hardgelnails #russianmanicure #naileducator

✨ Don’t be afraid of finish filing ✨ When possible, I remove at least 1mm from the free edge at the end of a service — and here’s why 👇 🤍 Strength By filing that tiny amount, we remove the thinnest and weakest part of the natural nail. Using a specific technique and angle, I bevel the natural nail slightly so the hard gel/builder gel can extend just beyond it. This helps strengthen the free edge and significantly reduces the chances of chipping or breaking. 🤍 Aesthetics That super crisp, clean free edge? This is the trick ✨ When would I avoid finish filing? • If the nails are very short • If the hyponychium has grown further down • If we’ve only applied gel polish without a builder/structure layer (as this can cause lifting) “Capping” the free edge is only necessary when we haven’t used a builder/structure layer ❤️ Do you/does your nail tech finish file at the end of your service? 👀✨ #nailprep #nailtransformation #beginnernailartist #beginnernailtech #gelnails

Using a diamond cuticle bit isn’t about going fast… It’s about control, angles, pressure, and technique. Ask yourself: ❓ Are you confident with your drill… or do you avoid it? ❓ Do you know WHY your cuticle work looks “fluffy” and uneven? ❓ Do you finish the manicure and still feel like it’s not clean enough? Because if you don’t master prep… builder gel and hard gel will never look perfect. ✨ In my Builder Gel + Hard Gel Course I show you exactly how I prep, step-by-step. No guessing. No damage. No lifting. Comment “COURSE” and I’ll message you the details 💬

STOP filing everything off — this is damaging your nails ❌ Completely removing builder gel or gel enhancements at every appointment may seem “clean,” but over time it weakens the natural nail, causes thinning, sensitivity, and breakage. The healthier and professional approach is called a fill, not a full removal. Here’s how proper fills work: ✨ File down 70–80% of the old product ✨ Leave a thin, smooth layer for protection ✨ Rebuild structure with fresh builder gel ✨ Maintain strength without damaging the natural nail This method: ✔️ Keeps nails healthier ✔️ Prevents excessive thinning ✔️ Saves time ✔️ Improves long-term retention When you use quality products (like Onra Builder Gel) and correct prep, fills last beautifully and keep the natural nail protected. Healthy nails = long-lasting beautiful sets 💅 Save this if you want stronger nails over time ✨ Follow @onrapro for more professional nail education 💖

It’s not just an ‘extra step’ for perfectionist nail techs. It’s standard a practice for anyone serious about retention and claiming for top quality work. ❌ Curved nails lead to lifting. ✅ Armouring technique creates a strong carcass and prevents it from happening. 🔥Inside Mastering Hard Gel, I walk you through exactly when to use it, which gels work best, and how to file the perfect c-curve that prevents 90% of lifting issues on the free edge. 📌Link in bio if you’re ready to level up 🔗

It’s not that clients are being picky, if something works for your nails, you wouldn’t want to change it, would you? 🤔 🔥Hard gel should absolutely be on your treatment menu, especially if you’re ✅ looking to build clientele ✅ work with nail types that need extra support ✅ want to increase your income (hard gel manicures are typically priced higher than soft gel) And if you already offer hard gel, TALK ABOUT IT! Shout it from the rooftops so you can be found. The demand is there💅🔥 ✨FOLLOW FOR NAIL TECH ADVICE✨

STOP using these on natural nails 💅🏾 ✨ In my gentle prep era ✨ Since switching brands, I’ve completely changed how I prep — and honestly, for the better. At this point i don't even use primers and thats ok because it works for my clients, its not always needed in my opinion Looking back at using 180 grit files or 180 grit sanding bands on natural nails, now gives me the shivers. Jeez, sometimes I even reached for 150 grit in the hopes that retention would be better. What was I thinking 😩 240 grit is more than enough Gentle prep with 240 grit helps protect the nail’s upper layers — the chemical-resistant layer that plays a huge role in preventing allergies, bacteria, and fungal issues. Using 180 grit or lower increases the risk of over-filing and exposing the softer layers of the nail. That can lead to lifting, poor retention, sensitivity, allergies, and long-term nail damage. I double dare you to ditch the 180 grit 👀💅✨ #nailfiles #naturalnailprep #softnailprep #overfilingnails #naildamage Nail damage | nail education | filing nails | buildergel course What grit do you use?

✨Why I chose soft builder gel instead of hard gel for this set This nail had good natural architecture and short length, so a rigid file off system was not necessary. ✨Soft builder is ideal here because it provides structured support with flexibility, allowing the overlay to remain thin and allowing the nail to flex slightly underneath. When would I switch to hard gel? ✨When I need a more rigid structure, whether for a weak highly flexible nail, even if short, or for added length, even if the natural nail is healthy. Understanding when to use and when not to use hard gel is essential. In my opinion every professional should be confident working with both systems. I teach this in depth inside my Complete Pro Manicure Course ✨ #nailtechtips #nailtutorials #hardgel #nailtecheducation

Here’s the rule: Stop using a one size fits all technique for every client. Gel overlays are not meant to be applied the exact same way on every nail. Different nail beds require different application. Different lengths require different apex placement. Different lifestyles require different reinforcement. When I was struggling, I was copying application. When I became fully booked, I started customizing structure. Pretty is not the goal. Longevity is. Once I stopped building overlays the same way for everyone: • My retention improved • My clients stopped messaging me about lifting • My rebooks became consistent If you are still applying gel overlays the same way on every client, this is your sign to rethink structure. Comment STRUCTURE if you want me to send you my full guide. #naileducation #buildergel #nailtech #nailstructure #nailtechnician

6,994

Why is your nail tech filing underneath the nail? When we work with hard gel, the structure is carefully built with a specific balance and apex. If the natural nail starts growing past that structure from underneath, it creates pressure at the free edge. Over time, that pressure can: • cause lifting from the tip • weaken the stress area • disrupt the balance of the architecture By gently removing a small part of the natural free edge from underneath, we maintain the correct structure and prevent separation. It’s a small detail — but it protects retention, strength, and long-term wear.
