tired of landing from a long flight feeling like a zombie? steal my EXACT method ⤵️ ✈️ after countless hours in the air, I’ve cracked the code to actually enjoying those marathon flights HERE’S the breakdown and SAVE it for later: 🍿 board the plane, turn a movie ON! 💊 mid-movie, dinner + an Alka-Seltzer PM or sleep aid. ✨ We’ve taken our share of economy seats on long flights in the last decade+. These are my best tips to survive an 8+ overnight flight. Do I like economy? No, but these tips make it bearable. 🥱 Always be prepared for anything. ✅ Bring a pillow that helps you sleep on a plane. This is different for everyone. My personal favorite is linked in my Amazon store (see my bio). ✅ Wear (or change into) comfy clothes and shoes. ✅ Wear layers because temperatures change frequently on a plane. ✅ I like to book an overnight flight as early in the evening as possible. Because I stay up late normally, it doesn’t feel as much like “overnight.” ✅ Bring your own snacks and water in case you don’t like the food they serve, or it’s a flight that doesn’t serve much. ✅ Always have a portable charger in case the charger on the plane doesn’t work or there isn’t one. ✅ Noise-canceling headphones help a lot to block out noise. ✅ Download movies to your phone or iPad in case the in-flight entertainment doesn’t work. ✅ Bring whatever essentials help you most. Mine are melatonin, lip balm, hand lotion, contact case, eye drops, hand sanitizer, other medications. As a full-time traveler for 10+ years, here’s what you need to know to survive a long haul flight… 🚨 Assume if it can go wrong, it will 😱 Broken TV screen, freezing air con, skipped meals, expensive water, a baby screaming, etc. 💺 If you can afford to upgrade your seat, do it. Whether that means choosing a window seat to rest your head, an aisle seat for bathroom breaks, or an exit row for extra leg room, get yourself in a comfy spot. Avoid seats over the wings (they tend to be louder) or by the bathroom or galley, as people will be walking by and lining up here during the flight. 🍷 I know it can be tempting, but avoid drinking alcohol and drink plenty of water instead. Being hydrated will help with foot swelling, blood circulation, and skin hydration. 🥱 Arrive tired. Whether you’re traveling during the day or night, sleeping will always help to pass the time. 👚 Wear comfortable clothes + pack layers. Leggings or loose fitting pants that are comfortable to sleep in are best. Bring a sweater or sarong, as planes can be warm during boarding and freezing mid-flight. 💦 Fill up your water bottle + pack snacks. 📱 Download books, movies, podcasts, and music that are all available OFFLINE in case your entertainment system doesn’t work. 😴 Bring an eye mask, earplugs, and neck pillow to help with sleep. 🔋Charge all electronics and a backup battery pack. Bring charging cables, as things like electronic watches or wireless headphones may die during your travel day. 🔌 Pack a plug adapter to connect to in-flight electricity. 🚶‍♀️ If you can walk around during the flight, get up and move. This will improve blood flow, circulation, and stiff joints. 🧦 If you suffer from swelling on flights, wear compression socks. 💊 Pack essentials in a ziplock bag such as ibuprofen, stomach meds, hand sanitizer, lotion, chapstick, and wet wipes. 👖A spare change of clothes may help in case something spills or your checked bag is lost. Use the plastic wrap around the blanket or the airsickness bag to collect your trash throughout the flight. Small thing = BIG comfort. 🎧 Noise-cancelling headphones + adapter – Some entertainment systems need a wired headset. Always bring something that works with your seat 🧴 Your in-flight essentials kit – Neck pillow, sleep mask, toothbrush, lip balm, face mist, earplugs. ✈️ Travel Hack for Long Flight 💙 Type POUCH for details: I used a hanging toiletry kit for easy access of my in-flight pouch of travel essentials. 👉🏼 Here is what I packed for the long flight on United Airlines flight from IAH to MUC: AirPod cord AirPods Tray table phone prop Eyeliner and mascara for the end of the flight Hair band Antibacterial wipes in case the flight crew is out Eye drops and a contact lens size container of hand lotion because airplane soap dries my skin INSTANTLY. 💙 For our bucket list trip we bought Polaris tickets on United.
