Fun fact: #Lorikeets are some of the most colorful members of the parrot family. They are native to the islands of the South Pacific and Australia. Their favorite treats include flowers, pollen and nectar. The Scaly-Breasted Lorikeet, native to the Australasian region, maintains its vivid plumage with constant preening. This helps reduce parasites and keeps feathers flight-ready. Scaly-Breasted Lorikeets often preen multiple times a day to stay clean, especially since their nectar-based diet can get a bit sticky. This preening is also a social behaviour that these lorikeets engage in as part of their natural flock life and pair bonding. They preen themselves and each other, often during rest periods, and this behavior is a sign of healthy social interactions and trust within the flock.
