70% of travelers visit only 1% of Italy! 😨🇮🇹 As the Visit Italy team, we are committed to promoting conscious and sustainable travel. Beyond the famous destinations, Italy is full of hidden gems, charming villages, and unique places waiting to be discovered. Choose popular spots in the low season or explore lesser-known treasures to experience the true essence of Italy Today we are going to✨: Lucca, a hidden gem in Tuscany that deserves a spot on your Italian itinerary! Known as the “City of 100 Churches,” Lucca is a beautifully preserved medieval town surrounded by imposing Renaissance walls. Unlike many tourist hotspots, this charming destination lets you experience Italy at a slower pace. Wander through its cobbled streets, bike along the ancient walls for breathtaking views, and soak in the atmosphere of Piazza dell’Anfiteatro, a unique oval-shaped square built on the ruins of a Roman amphitheater. Lucca is also the birthplace of the great composer Giacomo Puccini, making it a must-visit for music lovers. Whether you’re indulging in delicious Tuscan cuisine or simply getting lost in its timeless beauty, Lucca offers an authentic and unforgettable Italian experience. Would you add Lucca to your travel list? 🎥 @andreozzi_marco @andrea_giorgio_ kelsxg via tt #visititaly #italy #italylikealocal #italia #Florence #firenze #lucca

Walk with me through the streets of Lucca. 🤍 We’ve had some rain the past two days, along with the loudest thunderstorms I’ve heard in years. 🌩️ But nothing keeps me away from Lucca. I think this little town might be in my top 10 favorite Italian cities. What always draws me the most in a city like Lucca — whether it's big or small — are the secluded little streets, far away from the tourists. Florence shares the number one spot with about ten Tuscan villages — and Rome ranks high too. Sigh. Honestly, I find all the towns and cities here beautiful — just like in Provence. What’s your favorite Italian town or city? Also: ridiculously beautiful dress @magalipascal #andbloom #lucca

🥰 #adv #bestwesternitalia @bestwesternitalia @grandhotelguinigi #lucca #toscanagram #visittuscany #lucchese #cosafarealucca #gitafuoriporta #weekendfuoriporta

There’s nothing better to clear my head from the noise than a walk on Lucca’s Renaissance wall. What’s your go-to method? #ouritalianjourney #travelitaly #lucca #luccaitaly #incredible_europe

Ok, Florence is great… but have you even been to this hidden gem in Tuscany? 👀👇🏼 Lucca, Italy 🧱🚲⛪ This town totally surprised me. Less hyped than Florence or Pisa, but full of charm, history, and that laid-back Tuscan feel you secretly hope for. Inside its perfectly preserved Renaissance walls, it feels like time slows down — no rush, just tree-lined paths, quiet piazzas, and locals on bikes living their best life. Some of my favorite moments here: 🚲 Biking the entire loop on top of the city walls — peaceful, shaded, and such a cool way to see the city 🍦Grabbing gelato and people-watching in Piazza dell’Anfiteatro — one of the prettiest squares I’ve seen 🕍 Climbing Torre Guinigi and finding trees growing on top of a medieval tower (yes, really) 🎶 Hearing live music echo through the streets — Puccini was born here and it shows 🍷 Ending the day with an Aperol in a tucked-away piazza as the sun set Lucca doesn’t try to impress — and that’s exactly what makes it so special. 📌 Save this if you’re planning a Tuscany trip ✅ Follow @benihunyadi for more hidden gems and slow travel spots Things to do in Lucca | Hidden towns in Tuscany | Underrated places in Italy | Italy travel tips #lucca #tuscanyguide #hiddenitaly #thingstodoinlucca #slowtravelitaly #italyoffthebeatenpath #tuscanyvibes

So since I’ve been in Lucca, Italy 🇮🇹 I’ve been slowly making my way through the traditional Lucchesi specialties and I think I’ve made a pretty good dent! 😀 My favs are definitely the farro soup (#sogood), the tordelli Lucchesi (#TDF) and the cantucci con vino santo! A few of the others I’m not so sure I’ll be trying again but am glad I gave them a shot! 😉 Here’s a full list of the typical Lucca specialties I have tried so far: ☀️ Buccellato: sweet bread flavored with anise and raisins ☀️Zupa di Pappa Pomodoro - tomato bread soup. Simple peasant food but tasty! 👍🏻 ☀️Torta d’Erbi: savory and sweet veggie pie - wasn’t my thing. 🤷🏻♀️ ☀️ Cantucci con vino santo: small delish almond cookies (biscotti-like) that u dip in sweet wine #YUM ☀️Zupa di Farro: Farro soup - soo good and hearty usually w a little spelt too. #delish ☀️Tordelli Lucchesi: stuffed moon shaped pasta w a traditional ragu sauce #yummy ☀️Necci w ricotta: chestnut, flour, crêpes, stuffed with locally made ricotta and a touch of honey. #TDF Seriously, as in most of Tuscany, the food in Lucca is amazing! 🤩 Even though I do miss some of my Southern California food, this girl really has nothing to complain about here in the DELICIOUS town of Lucca! 🤤💕 #luccaitaly #lucchese #cibotoscana #tuscanyfood #foodblogger #ocfoodiegirlinitaly #traveltheworld #travelfood #travelblogger #italianfood #tuscanygram #italianfoodporn #lucca #buccellato #tordellilucchesi #cantuccievinsanto #necci

Most people visit Lucca and walk on top of the famous Renaissance walls… but did you know you can actually go inside them? These walls were built in the 1500s, and they’re hollow — made up of huge vaulted tunnels that once stored weapons, food, and even horses. Some parts were used as secret escape routes and shelters during wars. Today, you can explore the hidden chambers and passages that run through the walls themselves — it feels like stepping back in time underneath the city! I booked my inside-the-walls tour through GetYourGuide, and it was such a cool way to see Lucca beyond the usual walk or bike ride. If you want to explore something unique like this — whether you’re in Italy or anywhere in the world — use the link in my bio to book your own GetYourGuide experience at a discount. They’ve got amazing tours everywhere! #getyourguide #getyourguidepartner #lucca #luccaitaly #traveltuscany #hiddengemtuscany #hiddengemitaly #exploretuscany
