Mac Miller — “Objects In The Mirror” live from The Space Migration Sessions with The Internet (2013) 🪞 “Objects In The Mirror” is one of the standout moments from Mac Miller’s second studio album Watching Movies With The Sound Off, released June 18, 2013. The album marked a real shift in who he was as an artist and Mac described the project as his most introspective and personal work to that point. The song has an interesting backstory. Mac and his team had been in sessions in Miami with Pharrell working toward a full collaborative project called Pink Slime that never fully materialized. Pharrell sent over a batch of beats afterward, and the moment Mac heard the one that became “Objects,” he set it aside. The jazz influenced production ended up being the perfect backdrop for what the song became lyrically, a meditation on romantic longing and the emotional weight of leaving something behind. The Space Migration Sessions were a series of live performance videos tied to The Space Migration Tour in summer 2013, with The Internet serving as one of the supporting acts.
