In early 2022, Maitie was just a few weeks old when she was rescued from a ditch. Maitie's eye was severely damaged, so a week later her rescuer surrendered her to an animal hospital, and they transferred her to @humanesocietyncfl. When Caroline, a fosterer for the organization, learned about Maitie, she immediately offered to foster her! Shortly after bringing the cute four-week-old feline home, Caroline fell in love with Maitie, so she and her partner adopted her! Unfortunately, Maitie's eye was irreparably damaged and had to be removed, but it didn't take long for this resilient girl to recover from the surgery! Today, Maitie -- who was also diagnosed with feline #eyelidagenesis, a congenital condition characterized by underdeveloped eyelids -- is doing extremely well, and this sweet and energetic girl loves bird watching, playing with toys, eating treats, licking her mom's face, and keeping Caroline company while she takes baths!
