@heartpercent_global made an ACTUAL MAUVE LIP! I KNEW SOMEONE COULD DO IT! Mauve is a weird color. It's really more of an abstract concept. Color theory creator @anuschkarees defines mauve as a mix between magenta and violet. I'm a bit pickier. I can be down with a range of mauves from pinky mauve to purple mauve, but for me mauve has to have a "dusty" gray or slight brown tone too. Otherwise it's just pink or purple or red-violet. Sometimes the violet/purple pigments are enough to give it the dusty tone. Sometimes apparently not. Anyway, that's where I run into trouble with many "mauve" makeup shades because without that dusty tone, they're NOT MAUVE. K-beauty makeup brand Heart Percent's new Dote On Mood First Tint lip stain in the shade Moody Grape is ACTUALLY MAUVE ACCORDING TO MY UNREASONABLY STRICT DEFINITION. I first saw it on a random Japanese language swatch account. When I did, I had A REALLY GOOD FEELING. I messaged Heart Percent's global account immediately because they're super nice and I needed to know. I was like WHAT IS THIS WHEN CAN WE GET IT. And that is how I learned about the new Dote On Mood First Tint. These are staining lip tints with outstanding lasting power. I put on a couple of layers the first time, and the color stayed on all day, with only a little bit of minor and very even fading. I could still see a hint of it after my shower in the evening. The First Tint feels like a lightweight, hydrating gloss when first applied, then dries down to a very thin supple layer. No scent as far as I can tell and only a very faint sweet taste if I lick my lips. Can't speak for the other shades because I don't have any others yet, but Moody Grape layers really nicely. It falls into the medium berry range with that lovely dusty mauvey tone. I love it on its own but it makes a fantastic base to layer gloss on top of too! I've been playing around with it and I think I'm going to get so much use out of it. I wanted to keep this makeup super simple to focus on the mauve lip, so blush is just @romandyou Better Than Cheek powder blush in Vine Nude. One of the only Korean powder blushes I like btw.
