Hey y’all, I just wanted to take a moment to thank all the people who showed up for me on Saturday. First and foremost the band for finding a creative way to make this happen without me. All the singers that showed up on 24 hour notice to learn the absurd amount of lyrics I write (sorry) and rehearse maybe once or twice with the band: Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy, Berit Dybing: BER, and Nadi and Kathy of Gully Boys. Our crew who scrambled like mad both before and during the show to make it all happen and come in under the allotted time we had on stage. The Minnesota Yacht Club Festival for signing off on this. And all of you who spent your hard earned cash, traveled long and short distances, scheduled babysitters for your kids and parents, planned on one thing but got another… Thanks for your constant understanding and eternal forgiveness. I’m so sorry I couldn’t be there, but it was sure fun to watch thanks to my friend Lisa Smith in the front row who FaceTimed the entire set. 🎤 Capital mineira recebeu a fase final da competição Debaixo das toneladas de concreto e asfalto por onde passam milhares de veículos todos os dias, indo do Centro ao Floresta, há uma cena cultural viva - e que foi especialmente intensa na noite deste domingo (23/11). Mais uma vez o Viaduto Santa Tereza, em Belo Horizonte, recebeu e foi palco da fase final da Batalha Nacional de MCs, reafirmando a capital mineira como epicentro do hip-hop no país. O vencedor da competição foi Japa, da Bahia, que alcançou o desejado troféu ao lançar “barras” (gíria do freestyle para versos) vencedoras na disputa contra Barreto, de São Paulo - apontado por boa parte do público como favorito. Esta foi a quinta edição de Japa no nacional, vindo de um vice-campeonato em 2024. It’s kinda wild what washes up, but also super satisfying to clear it away and be a part of such important data gathering.
