Irrfan on the METHOD for acting. How he was struggling to feel engaged even as a student in National School of Drama with directors adopting a dictator-like style, a method which sucks the creative energy of an actor. Until he encountered the new METHOD of acting taught by Prasanna sir, who came in as guest faculty. Irrfan believed that rehearsals and theatre exercises should be character-sensitive; they should have an organic relation with the character. Actor should get evolved through acting, the METHOD should enrich the experience of the actor. Credits - SouthWord

Ever wonder what *really* happens when an actor goes method? 🤯 Dustin Hoffman breaks down the original intention from Stanislavski—it's all about sharpening your personal instrument with sensory recall, not stopping a film shoot! ✋ He spills the tea on the legendary 1950s showdown between Strasberg, Adler, and Meisner, all fighting over the correct technique. The truth behind the myth is fascinating. 👇 #MethodActing #ActingTips #DustinHoffman #Stanislavski #ActingTechnique

“Stillness is a like a spell - it creates an illusion that can manipulate the audience to think that your character has status. When you’re still, you take up a space and have a presence, and that can be seen as a dominance or an energy in the room. It’s a trick - you draw focus by being totally still, but you can also convey that you’re listening” - Tom Hardy @steppingthroughfilm #ActingMastery #ActingClassesSydney #Actors #ActingAdvice #TomHardy

In this powerful clip, Naseer Sir (@naseeruddin49) explains how critics of Method Acting don’t know or understand what Method truly is. He shares that it takes years of rigorous training to reach a level where improvisation feels natural, and his body of work is a testament to the power of the Method—the hardest and most effective acting technique. At The Method Acting Academy, I guide you step by step through authentic Method training, just as Lee Strasberg taught it. Being an alumna of the Institute in New York and having trained and taught there, I know the purity of the technique, and I’m passionate about sharing it with my students. We also go beyond the acting itself—integrating inner child rewiring, mindset tools, and nervous system regulation to provide a holistic and practical approach to the craft. #NaseeruddinShah #themethodactingacademy #HolisticActor #NervousSystemRegulation #methodacting #strasbergmethod #acting #castingcalls #auditions #theatre #filmandtv #filmactor #actingcoach #actingclass #preetigupta #ActorTraining #ActorsLife #AuditionPrep

How does an actor fight the typecasting trap? At @filmcompanion 's 2023 Streaming Roundtable, #Scam2003's breakout star @gagandevriar spoke to me about navigating the typecasting game as an actor. You can watch the full roundtable discussion on Film Companion.

The Method Actor Irrfan Khan #irrfankhan Comparing Bollywood and Hollywood roles, Irrfan said that in Bollywood actors need to do a lot of films, so they do not go into the depth of the character. Whereas in Hollywood, they really get into the skin of the character and hence it is difficult for them to come out. He also mentioned Dilip Kumar’s name who was advised by his psychiatrist to act in light roles, otherwise he would not come out of the role given to him at some point of time. He also spoke about Amitabh Bachchan who impressed him very much in their latest film, Piku. He said that Amitabh Bachchan may not identify with the character, but still enacts it with a lot of conviction. . . . . . . . . . #bollywoodmovie #actingcraft #actingskills #actingtechnique #actingschool #methodactor #theateracting #theateractor #cameraacting #hindimovies #movies #filmschool #remembering #loved #actingclasses #actingtips

Acting Tip - Never over-emphasise your emotions. A restrained performance is often far more impactful — because the audience feels the unsaid. But remember: 👉 Some moments do demand heightened expression — when the character’s emotional explosion is the truth of that moment. Laurence Olivier famously once said to Dustin Hoffman (method actor) on the set of Marathon Man “why don’t you just try acting?” in reponse to Dustin’s preperation. Dustin had chosen not to sleep for a few days in order to feel the truth of being deprived of sleep. Granted, not sleeping for a few days isn’t what method acting stipulates in order to sense the truth. This clip is taken from The Merchant of Venice, with Laurence Olivier & Al Pacino both playing the role of Shylock. Laurence Olivier a classically trained actor and Al Pacino a method actor. It highlights the difference between indicational acting, where an actor pretends to think & feel & method acting where the actor actually ‘thinks & feels’. The camera never lies and in order for an actor to be believable on-screen they have to think and feel, not indicate that they are thinking and feeling. One could also reference Olivier’s performance here as being a theatre performance and Pacino’s very much what acting for television/film requires.
