When I'm making a piece like this, I always start questioning everything, even why I do this at all. It's not unusual to spend 15 hours a day on a piece like this, and it gets under your skin. But once it’s done, I often need to take a break from macramé for a while. The paradox is that I can’t stop. Even when I’m tired, I keep going until the last knot is tied. After 12 years doing this, I’ve noticed the breaks are getting shorter. 𖥸 MACRAMÉ TUTORIAL 𖥸 - How to make a boho choker with charms from @malkamacrame ✨ This tutorial requires that you already know basics of macramé knots 🙏 ☽ Material • 5 @linhasita threads from @perlesandco • I used 1.4 mm thread for this piece • Length: about 2–3 arm lengths per thread • Brass beads and charms from @malkamacrame ☽ Let’s begin Take your 5 threads, gather them together and fold them in half. Attach them in the middle of your board with a clip. Keep the right thread aside and start weaving with the others, following the movement in the video. Create simple macramé knots, remember that each knot is tied twice so it holds nicely. ☽ The center After four weaves with two brass beads, add your beads and the main charm. Then repeat the same pattern five times on each side of the center. Little by little, the choker will take shape and grow long enough to almost wrap around your neck. ☽ Finishing At the end, keep only two threads. Cut the others, twist the remaining ones and finish with a sliding macramé knot. ☽ Little tip To keep your threads even while weaving, you can place small clips on each side of the board so the necklace stays stable.
