Microsoft just built an open-source framework that teaches your AI agents to learn from their own mistakes. This is Agent Lightning, and it helps train your AI agent on specific tasks that you want. Right now, everyone is teaching how to build AI and deploy AI agents, but there is no real way to train them to get better at a particular task. If they make a mistake, they will keep repeating it forever. Here’s where Agent Lightning steps in. It lets any AI agent learn through reinforcement learning without rewriting a single line of code. So it doesn’t matter if you built your agent with LangChain, AutoGen, or OpenAI’s SDK. Agent Lightning plugs into your agent, watches it work, records every decision it makes, and then scores those decisions. This data is fed into reinforcement learning algorithms that actually improve the agent. And the early results are impressive. Customer support bots jumped from 68% to 85% resolution rates. Code assistants went from 45% to 72% accuracy. We’re entering an era where we don’t necessarily need to chase stats and benchmarks.
