Leute, ich sag’s euch, das war einfach nur krass! Als wir an dem Viadukt auf den berühmten Harry Potter Zug gewartet haben, kurz nach einem Regenschauer haben uns die Midgets sowas von angegriffen! Das war wirklich nicht mehr schön! Alle Leute haben wirklich so um sich geschlagen, das war eine richtige Plage aber wir haben es trotzdem durchgezogen und bis auf den Zug gewartet. how we avoid midges in summer 🌞🦟⬇️ 💨 wind is no longer your enemy it’s funny because we spend all winter hoping for those perfect windless days and then the minute summer hits it just completely shifts. Midges can’t fly in winds over 10km/h so we’re constantly checking the mountain forecast and apps to find the perfect place to head to 🗺️ All our trips usually involve checking multiple weather apps, our favourites are: - Windy App - Mountain Forecast - Met Office - MWIS 🏃‍♀️what’s the real reason we run all winter? it’s purely just training for outrunning the midges 😂 ⛺️ only camp above 1000m… simple really?!😅😂 obviously take this one with a pinch of salt as there are a lot of factors that go into this to do it safely (the weather in summer can still be FREEZING in the mountains) but because of that, midges tend to rarely be up on top of the Munros. Although not impossible, because we’ve definitely spend a few nights hiding in our tent from them whilst summit camping, but the majority of the time there’s none around 😅 🦟 grow yourself a built in midge net possibly a long term quest so you can also buy one from Smidge, you’ll find them in most shops/petrol stations/cafes across Scotland in summer😆 & also having a tent with lots of mesh is a great way to still feel like your outdoors when they get bad! 🏠 booking into a nice log cabin midges tend to be worst during dawn & dusk so staying at a cute cosy cabin or cottage where you can escape inside if they get really bad & spend most of your time outside in the middle of the day is a great way to avoid them completely!
