For the average consumer, I don’t think the killer use-cases are quite there. Not to mention, there are some real security implications that can be dangerous if you don’t understand what you’re authorizing (more on this below) But for technical users, Moltbot (just like Claude Code) might feel like magic. It is an open-source playground with endless possibilities. Why? What is the key difference between this and every other AI tool? Moltbot works autonomously in the background, it remembers your full conversation history, and executes tasks independently… no hand-holding required. So what’s the catch? Well… you’ll need to put in some real effort at the start. This isn’t a plug-and-play situation. Expect to spend a meaningful amount of time configuring, testing, and tweaking until you get it right. I mean just installing Moltbot may take you an hour or two if you’re non-technical. …which is the reason 95%+ of people will never take action. Moltbot Is absolutely going viral right and it’s genuinely one of the wildest things happening in AI right now. Basically it’s an open source AI agent that runs locally on your computer and you can control it through apps you already use like WhatsApp or Telegram. It’s like claude-code/co-work but with unrestricted access and zero gaurdrails. Image you’re out getting coffee and you can just text your computer to find a file, run a task, check your calendar, whatever. It has full access to your system, it remembers everything across sessions, and it can even create its own tools and workflows. This feels like a real glimpse at where personal AI is heading. The idea of having an always-on assistant that actually does things instead of just suggesting steps is exactly what people have been wanting forever. But there are security concerns with this tool. Researchers have found hundreds of exposed instances leaking API keys and full conversation histories because people set it up wrong. Prompt injection is a big risk. There was a demo where someone sent a malicious email to a Moltbot instance and within five minutes the AI had forwarded the user’s last five emails to an attacker. The project itself admits there’s no perfectly secure setup which is kind of terrifying when you think about what you’re giving it access to. My take is that this is genuinely cool technology that most people probably shouldn’t install yet, but if you’re willing to run it on isolated hardware with locked down permissions then yeah go experiment. This feels like one of those defining moments in AI where It’s like being handed the keys to a race car before you’ve learned to drive.

Comunque funziona bene con i propri dati conservati sul computer stesso, in locale, si spende solo per le chiamate ai modelli come #chatGPT o #claude, ma personalmente lo trovo un pochino pericoloso lato privacy, perché se qualcuno si impossessasse (leggetela con la voce di Jovanotti) del computer sarebbero guai. You can now have your own 24/7 AI employee… It’s called MoltBot and it just hit 50,000 GitHub stars in only a few days. The former head of Tesla AI called it remarkable. Developers are calling it “Claude with hands.”

And it changes what an AI assistant actually means. Here’s the difference. ChatGPT and Claude sit in a browser waiting for you to type. MoltBot can live inside WhatsApp, Telegram or Slack. It messages you first. It remembers everything you’ve ever told it. And it actually does things on your computer. One guy asked it to book a restaurant. When the website failed, it used voice AI to call the restaurant and complete the reservation itself. Someone else had it rewrite an entire codebase in 30 minutes. Here’s how to set it up. Go to clawd.bot. Copy the one-line install command into your terminal. Pick your AI model and connect to slack for this example. You don’t need the Mac Minis everyone on X is panic-buying. A five dollar cloud server can actually work fine.
