Hike with me to Mooney Falls 💙 . 📍Mooney Falls is the tallest of the 5 Havasupai waterfalls. It is located at the end of the campground, one mile away from Havasu Falls . 🥾The hike is very short only 0.5 miles each way but it is some sections it is almost a vertical descent. In the first part of the hike you will pass through some caves in the rocks, before arriving the opening from which you will be able to see the waterfall. After getting there, you will start the descent, using the chains to help you. These are usually very slippery and if you get there early in the morning you wil find some gloves that you can use to climb down and then bring them back. Finally as you get closer to the base you wil find some wooden ladders which are also super slippery but you can take all the time you need to get down. . ⚠️ The hike can be quite dangerous so do it at your own risk. The water spray coming from the waterfall make everything very wet and slippery so Pat lot of attention. If you are afraid of heights I won’t recommend it either. Said that, I think that the hike is not so scary as many people say, but that’s just my personal opionion so do your own evaluations based on your experience and physical condition. . Was Mooney Falls worth the risk? 😵💫 We hiked 10 miles into the Grand Canyon with 40lb backpacks, only THEN to climb down 200 feet of slippery rocks and chains perched on an almost vertical cliff to see the most beautiful waterfall in the US! We passed the “Descend At Your Own Risk” sign and found the first tunnel we had to climb through. The anxiety started to rise when we were inside the cave, barely able to see our next step in front of us. There are two caves you have to climb through before you start the chain portion of the descent. At the end of the second cave, there are dozens of pairs of gloves for you to grab so you can grip the chains better. We grabbed the driest pair as we both looked at each other nervously. We knew what had to be done! Overcoming the anxiety, we each grabbed onto the chains and started holding on for dear life. One wrong move would’ve sent us sliding down the slick canyon wall. We took each step with utmost focus and the sound of the water crashing got louder. The final boss: a massive ladder even more slippery than the rocks. But when we got to the bottom of it, it was like we had just hit the ground after skydiving! The adrenaline was pumping as we screamed in excitement as we braced ourselves against the crazy mist and sound the waterfall was blasting us with. The water was SO BLUE 🤯 All in all, we actually thought this was sketchier than Angel’s Landing and Half Dome! But obviously the answer is yes, is was freaking worth it. Was it worth it? 😅📸 Here’s how @TommyLundberg and I were able to create unique aerial photos during our camping trip at the famous Havasupai Indian Reservation where drones are prohibited. To this day, I still consider this area one of the most magical and stunning places I’ve ever been to. If you haven’t been yet, add these waterfalls to your bucket list! 🤩 📍Locations featured: Havasu Falls, Mooney Falls & Beaver Falls. This 30ft monopod pole is called a PhotoMast and has been such a game changer when we aren’t allowed to fly drones. #havasufalls #havasupai #mooneyfalls #beaverfalls #visitarizona #travelphotography #behindthescenes

This is Mooney Falls at Havasupai and seriaouoy one of the most epic waterfalls I’ve ever seen. It is a little bit slippery and steep to get down to but so worth it! #havasupai #mooneyfalls #epicview

⛓️ Would you go down? Or watch from the top? Use grippy shoes as the trail is so misty, muddy, slippery, and more. Use gardening gloves for better grip (pack in and pack out everything) #havasupai #beautifuldestinations #mooneyfalls #bestofthebest #hikelikeagirl

Would you chase this waterfall? 👀 The hike down to Mooney Falls is a short and exhilarating adventure when camping at the Havasupai Campground! 🫣 Difficulty: Difficult due to the steep descent 🥾Length: 1 mile from Havasu Falls 📈 Elevation gain/loss: 200 Feet 🎟 Permits required: Yes, a Havasupai Permit is required The descent can get busy in the morning so if you don’t want to get stuck in traffic, I recommend going at first light, or waiting until later in the morning. Once you get down the ladder, head downstream of Mooney Falls to explore the trail to Beaver Falls! 📍 Havasupai land - a permit is required to visit Would you do this hike?? #mooneyfalls #arizonahiking #andshesdopetoo

I’ve been up and down these chains and ladders almost 30 times now, and it does not get easier or less terrifying. When you get about halfway down everything becomes wet and slippery from the waterfall mist to add to the fun factor. There is no other way to get down to Mooney Falls (and beyond) other than this route. But, if it’s too much for you, swimming in Havasu Falls upstream doesn’t require this cliff-hanging adventure. This hike may be hard, but getting a Havasupai permit is arguably the most difficult part of the adventure, and each year getting a permit to hike to the Falls gets more and more competitive. Not to mention, the permits cost $450 per person. Most permits sell out the first day reservations open and then, after that, the only way you can get one is through the transfer list. You are required to have a permit prior to your visit, so no walk-ins and no day hiking is allowed. Reservations open on February 1st at 8AM and the permit system is entirely online. This year, it costs $450 for one person to visit the falls for a four day/three night stay. Yes, $450. That wasn’t a typo. You must pay for your reservation in full at the time the reservation is made. So, if you have a big group going on the hike, be sure to let your group members know to pay you up front. But, if there is one hike in the world that I would throw down money for — this is the one. It’s BEYOND worth it. 🩵

The sketchiest, craziest trails always lead to the most insane views out there! With Havasu Campground Reservations opening soon it’s time to start planning and preparing for the best trail in the Southwest. This trail down to Mooney Falls was sketchy at best and dangerous at worst. The gloves people leave behind are a lifesaver so don’t hesitate to use them! Or bring your own but make sure to pack them out. But what do you think? Will you be hiking down to this waterfall?! Let me know in the comments! #mooneyfalls #havasupaitrail #insaneviews

Since permits are getting released in a week here’s a throwback to almost a year ago when I hiked over 20+ miles for these views 💓 #arizona #havasupai #mooneyfalls #havasufalls #hike #outdoors #waterfall #nature #outdoors #beaverfalls #travel #vacation #hispaniccreator #latina #roadtrip #camp
