If you ask me which hike in Madeira is the ultimate one, I’ll tell you this: PR1 is not just the top hike on Madeira — it’s one of the best in the world. And if you know a trail that’s more spectacular than this one — drop it in the comments. I’m curious. In April, the trail is expected to fully reopen after a year and a half closure due to the damage caused by the August 2024 wildfires. We’re all waiting for that moment. But even now, its shorter — and arguably most beautiful — section is open and accessible to visitors. A small but important tip before you go: Check the webcam at Pico do Arieiro to avoid arriving in thick clouds. It makes all the difference. And here’s something most tourists don’t do — My favorite time to hike PR1 is at sunset, not sunrise. While the majority wakes up early, I prefer watching the light fade over the ridges. It feels quieter. More dramatic. I don’t know if I’ll ever get over this drive 🌻🏔️ 📍Teton Park Road + Hwy 89 In my opinion this is one of the most beautiful drives in a national park (and there are a lot 😅). You can combine these roads to form a loop through Grand Teton National Park, and you can hit all the major view points, hikes, lakes, etc! These are the spots you CAN’T miss on this drive through the Tetons! ⬇️ - Paddle board on String Lake - Hike delta lake - Mormon Row for sunset - Sunrise at Schwabacher Landing - Glacier view turnout for photos - Snake River lookout - Dornan’s for lunch - Drive Hwy 89 for insane views - Cathedral Group turnout - Go on a wildflower drive in June - Walk around nearby downtown Jackson I also highly recommend going in mid-late June for wildflower season 🌻 #scenicdrive #grandteton #mountainviews #roadtrip #ustravel
