If you have a young child preoccupied with snacks, this one is for you! I totally get that this is HARD, and it’s super common for a reason : 1. If snacks are associated with specific foods, hyperpalatable foods or are even a more relaxed eating opportunity 2. It’s an easy thing to try and assert new found autonomy with If nothing else please remember… - routine and regular eating anchors in the day are important for toddlers. Whilst they don’t dictate the day you can use choice to your advantage eg shall we have x or y with our breadsticks - take the shine of certain foods by including them (neutrally) alongside meals and other foods, and mix up what’s offered and when - take snacks out of packets when you can (you know I wang on about this) - remember toddlers may push back or get upset with the boundary around meals and snacks - that’s normal. But they need predictability from us/too and not a very moveable feast when it comes to boundaries.
