In The Studio | with @ishitaart_atelier, whose works will be part of @galeriepeterkilchmann’s presentation at Art Dubai 2026. Ishita Chakraborty’s art practice is shaped by her experience of being an immigrant, living far away from her home, mother tongue and native culture. The ensuing feelings of disquiet and nostalgia she projects onto, and contextualises within, the global displacement of people due to war, natural disaster or political repression, the historical traumas of colonialism, and the resultant loss of language and identity. Ishita’s oeuvre spans several mediums – paper, ceramics, installation, poetry, video, and sound. Language as both signifier and repository of repressed cultural memory is a key concern in her work.
