‘The one ring to rule them all’, but how old is it? Found last week on the foreshores, I’ve been trying to research this and not getting very far. It’s silver, handmade, no hallmarks and at a guess id say pretty old. I’m throwing 17th or 18th century out there, what do you think?

My first glass eye! Thankfully this one is a vintage dolls eye, perfectly miniature in size, so I’m already working on setting it in jewellery. All a game of chance this beach hunting - if it had been upside down I wouldn’t have clocked it, and I would have assumed it was a shell. Instead I’ve another item ticked off the bucket list. Found to the sound of a seal deep breathing just offshore - this heavy, hand-blow (sorry about the mistake in the audio…) glass stem, with a ravishing twist and length of opaque glass inside. The style was very popular in the 18th century with British glassmakers, but I suspect mine is later - the heft feels Victorian or Edwardian - and the closest match is a revival-style 1910 Josephine Hutte goblet, which I’ve shown at the end of the reel. #mudlark #mudlarking #vintageglass #beachcombing #seaglass
