Most classroom walls are decoration… not support. If students aren’t using what’s on the wall during the lesson, it’s probably not helping them build language. Support should make it easier to see it, say it, and use it. Follow @gladlyteaching for practical ways to help multilingual learners build language, reading, and writing.

I love teaching in a dual language classroom 🤍 it starts with simple conversations like this, but it becomes so much more. Confidence, connection, and pride in who they are. #DualLanguage #BilingualClassroom #TeacherLife #BilingualKids #TeachingWithLove

🇬🇧🇫🇷 What does true bilingual learning look like in Pre-school? In Alice & Eileen’s classroom, language isn’t just taught - it’s lived. Each teacher speaks her native language, and children naturally move between English and French every day. 🎬 A seamless, immersive experience that builds confidence, curiosity, and a genuine love for both languages.

Mi gente, Today I closed a two-part series with families on what it actually means to support bilingualism beyond the classroom 🤍 We moved from vision into action, from understanding dual language through a social justice lens to what this looks like at home, in community, and in the everyday decisions caregivers make. We talked about things that are not always included in these spaces, the why behind the strategies. Comprehensible input, language-rich environments, translanguaging, identity, belonging, and how all of this shapes the way children experience language and themselves. Because supporting a bilingual child is not just about practice, it is about understanding how language works, how identity is formed, and how schools and families can move with intention. We also made space to talk about something that matters deeply, the rights families hold in dual language programs, and how knowing those rights is part of advocacy and language justice. And what stayed with me the most is this: raising a bilingual or multilingual child is not an individual effort. It takes a village, care, and a shared vision. I’m really growing to love these spaces with caregivers. There is something powerful about building that bridge between school, home, and community. In community, Francoise 🫰🏼💜 PS: If you are a dual language or Spanish teacher, I’m also offering a live workshop called One Language, Many Voices: Teaching Spanish Beyond the Myth of Neutrality, where we explore how to bring Spanish diversity, dialects, and real-world language into your classroom in ways that feel meaningful and aligned with your students’ identities. #bilingualeducation #multilingual #education #raisingbilingualkids #parenting
