As a first timer, i didn't even know what MUN is and to do there. So i called my friend GUY who has done over 20 muns by now and asked... "Bhai MUN hota kya hai" And guy explained the whole process to me and told me one thing "play the blame game" Since my country was china, i knew i was cooked so all i did was blame usa mostly. So tip no 1️⃣ Play the Blame Game Blame other countries for the bad things they did and defend yours very wisely. Tip no. 2️⃣ do proper research Not just on your own country, but on all the other countries present there. Dig out there past, dig out their everything. If you wanna know how to research more effectively, then comment "research" and I'll make a seperate reel about it. Tip no. 3️⃣ be loud and confident Don't just read your speaches, give your speaches. What i mean is emphasize the words and pronounciation. Go fast, go slow, create that tension and give them goosebumps. Tip no. 4️⃣ Be attentive and listen to other delegates There are a lot of times they'll use unparliamentary words and give incorrect facts. Raise a point of order through chits or directly and catch them off gaurd. It has lots of points. Tip no. 5️⃣ during crisis committee specify the military artillery names. Dont just say you'll do this you'll do that. Explain how you'll do it, what u will use to do it. Tip no. 6️⃣ its not always about winning. Always remember, you either win or learn smth new. And lastly thank you to God for everything and to GUY for helping me out and to the honorable chairs for giving us so many valuable tips and information on that day. If you have some of your own tips then please comment them so that everyone can learn. Thank you for watching. #mun #relatable #research #UnitedNations #viral

3 Things I Wish I Knew Before My First MUN 💼🌍 My first Model UN conference? Pure chaos (but the kind that changes you). I walked in terrified and left with a whole new perspective. Here’s what I wish someone had told me before I ever stepped into the conference: 1. You don’t need to know everything. Confidence > trying to blurt out resolutions. Speak clearly, think fast, and don’t stress the details too much. 2. Alliances are EVERYTHING. Even the most well-researched resolution goes nowhere without support. Network, collaborate, build your trust with other delegates. The real power is in teamwork. 3. Big words won’t save you. Keep it simple. Be persuasive, not robotic. The best speeches are the ones that make people listen, not (cough) AI-generated. Ready for your first MUN? Here’s the exact MUN research flow that helps you speak stronger, write better, and survive unmods 👇 1️⃣ Understand The Current Issue Before building arguments, you need to know what’s happening right now. - UN News → follow current UN discussions, decisions, and global developments in simple, accessible language - CFR Backgrounders → understand the issue clearly: what caused it, who’s involved, and why it matters internationally 2️⃣ Learn The Historical Context Strong delegates know that today’s conflicts didn’t start yesterday. - Brookings Institution → useful for timelines, background, and how the issue has evolved over time - Carnegie Endowment for International Peace → helps explain root causes and how political, economic, and security factors connect 3️⃣ Build Arguments With Data If you can’t back up your claims, your speech won’t hit. - World Bank Data → compare countries using development, economic, and social indicators - UN Data → find statistics on population, education, health, economy, and more 4️⃣ Use Official UN Sources This is what makes your research actually committee-ready. - UN Digital Library → find resolutions, reports, and official UN documents - IMUNA Country Profiles → quick country facts and helpful starting points for delegate research 5️⃣ Stay Updated On Global Developments Because debates get stronger when your examples are current. - Reuters → fast, factual updates you can actually use in speeches - The Economist → deeper analysis connecting politics, economics, and global trends A good delegate doesn’t just speak confidently. A good delegate speaks with evidence, context, and strategy. Type “EARLY” in the comments & TAG 3 FRIENDS, we’ll DM you how to join! Here’s where I messed up ⬇️ To begin with, you either win or you learn in an MUN. You don’t LOSE. I have been for 2 MUNS, one for UNHRC and one for AIPPM and here are a few things I learnt in both these MUNS: 1. Research thoroughly: You’ve probably heard that a lot but where exactly to research from? Read the background guide fully, read agenda-related materials and case laws from proper law websites not ChatGPT, use YouTube for better understanding of topic and the issues, download Constitution articles list for AIPPM or the UN charter pdf for UNHRC. 2. Raise your pluck card for EVERYTHING: I didn’t realise this until recently but everytime you raise your pluck card for a point, the chairpersons notice you. They notice your willingness to participate. This way, even if you don’t get recognised for a point of information, you’re still seen and that can boost up your overall marks as well. 3. Keep a list of questions ready for each delegate. It is difficult to frame meaningful questions on the spot especially as a first timer. When you prepare a bunch of questions for each delegate beforehand, you have the confidence to raise your pluck card for every point of information. Even if you’re not recognised you can send over chits with all the questions written. 4. Keep your opening and closing statements REAL and not AI generated: Most ppl use ChatGPT for their opening and closing statements including me, but the more I used it I realised that there is no “realness” associated with it. When you frame your own speeches, you can frame it according to the minister’s style of speaking or the country’s stance you’re representing which is not necessarily what AI can do accurately whether it’s ChatGPT, Perplexity or Gemini. 5. Present solutions and not just problems: Everyone knows what the issue in hand is. Briefly narrate the problems but focus more on how will you bring a change to it, resolve it in the best manner, how will you implement the changes and quote articles, case laws, real life examples where these solutions have actually worked.
