Before my beloved Sasa transitioned, we had several months together to say goodbye. She was (and is) one of the wisest and most loving souls I’ve ever known. She was my second mother and one of my greatest teachers. One of the many ways we shared our love and closure toward the end, was through me recording as much of her wisdom in her own words as I could. We spent days together, her thinking of things to share and me asking her questions. Today I have hours of her voice. I can’t tell you how much I cherish them and turn to them since she left this plane. Today I am sharing one of my treasures with you; Sasa taking about her ideas of faith…and that all we need is a mustard seed of it. She remind me of that so many times though out my life when my faith faltered or felt lost to me and it always helped. I’ve been having so many conversations about faith lately; with friends, clients and all of you. I’m starting to realize that faith is THE most important thing we need right now…faith we are HELD…that what is right is always unfolding…that there is a benevolent force that only wants the best for us….and all things are possible in Grace. If we could really understand and hold that so much in the world and inside ourselves would change for the better!!

I had no intention of starting a blog or making videos or writing books when I had cancer. But I did have a sense that God would use it in some way. And just as a tiny seed can grow into a huge tree over time, God multiplied my effort exponentially. Do you have a big vision? Do you want to make an impact in the world? First, start thinking and dreaming and praying about what you want to do in the future, right now. No dream or idea is too big. Write your vision and ideas down. The time to start is when you can’t stand waiting any longer. Second, no matter how much good you do, there will always be those who think you’re doing it wrong, you aren’t doing enough, or you’re doing it for the wrong reasons. Some people may even maliciously twist things you say and do to make you look bad. The more impact you have, the fiercer your opponents get. Criticism is painful. But it is necessary. It sharpens you and toughens you up. Expect it, but don’t waste your time and energy on the critics. You have more important work to do. Homemade mustard practically makes itself but, like all things low-waste, you do need to plan ahead. After soaking mustard seeds for a day or two, purée the ingredients up and let them sit for several days. The strong, hot and bitter mustard needs to mellow. Now, if you use very old, past-their-prime mustard seeds, you may want to skip this step—they won't have much bite left to them. Taste a little bit every day until you like the flavor. Then store the mustard in the refrigerator for several months where it will continue to mellow. Because the flavor will change over time, I like to make small batches. This recipe is highly adaptable. This is how I made this batch, which differs from the last batch: ⭐️ In a small jar, combine 1/4 cup yellow mustard seeds, 1/4 cup homemade wine vinegar, 1/4 cup water, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric, 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper. ⭐️ Let the closed jar sit for 2 days. ⭐️ Purée the ingredients in a food processor until the mixture reaches your desired consistency. I like to have lots of intact seeds. You may want yours smoother. ⭐️ Return the mustard to the jar and let it sit for about 5 days to a week until it has mellowed to your liking. If you don't have wine vinegar, try apple cider vinegar. This tastes great with white wine or beer in place of water. You might want to add garlic powder or more salt or, if you have it, mustard powder. If you want spicier mustard, add some brown mustard seeds. Adapt the recipe depending on the ingredients you have on hand and your favorite flavors. Save this Reel and never buy plastic bottles of mustard again!
